Amazfit T-Rex 3 FULL Review + (A Few) Tips!

The new Amazift T-Rex 3 is a feature back powerhouse. The battery life is amazing and I think it offers a good value compared to other watches with similar features. But as always I found a few cons that you should know about before you buy this watch.

It's beautiful, big but needed. People complained about phones being to big and now look, everyone has a big phone. I really think it will be a big hit. Really looks like a Hublot watch

@@paulcarney9236 Its a little hidden. in the Zepp app go to the home section (bottom left). then click on the person icon in top right. all the way to the bottom, click on settings, then click units. Here you can change the C to F and metric to imperial. Told you it was hidden 😀

Where can you access the Chime settings? I can only see vibration settings.

The chime noise is called buzzer. Go to settings, sound and vibration, then click on buzzer scenes to activate. the "other" toggle will turn it on for alarms and timers. cant turn it on for notifications as of yet. Thanks for watching!😀

You can get notifications from WhatsApp, email and any other apps but only from 1 phone.

Thank you, sir. I bought this watch two days ago and was unfamiliar with all the functions. There was no way for me to figure out how to enable the mobile phone music controller. Now I have learned to swipe up for watch music control and change it to control my phone music. Amazfit should adopt your video for their manual with a notice: Watch before use. Thank you!

Actually the name of the watch face is 'Refined Chart' and underneath it's telling you it's a power intensive watch face.

I tried to check for you but all my buds are already paired to my phone and kept repairing even though I paired it to the trex3 and unpaired it to the phone. However, keep in mind that the trex3 can't take calls without being connected to your phone, so if buds are paired to your phone, you will get same effect.

How can i connect the watch to the wifi using the app ?

As far as I know, you cant connect the watch to wifi through the Zepp app. can only be done through the watch. go to settings, close to the top is wifi. toggle that on, then watch will automatically search for wifi. if password protected (it is right) then enter password on watch.

I'm considering buying this watch and it would be good to see some insights from an athlete's perspective. Like for example when running/cycling does it have a button that when clicked it would start a new lap? For running a lap is 1 km and cycling would be each 5 km. For swimming is there a button when clicked it would finish the laps you did on a pool and go to rest between sets and clicked again it would start a new set? Is there a way to set you HR/FTP zones? I've seen other videos where the GPS and HR accuracy is now pretty good on this watch

I will just assume that you asking me as an athlete and not hoping for other viewers to comment- I am flattered. 😊 It automatically alerts you at 1 mile (or km outside of US) mark, and can read out your stats for the mile. You can also press the bottom right button to start a new lap at any time. For swimming, it will keep track of your laps and asks for lap distance when you start workout. You can pause and restart but it does not keep track of pause times in stats but the watch will start a timer to show how long that pause is. You can make training templates and set work out times, breaks and cool down times, which might help you. as of now, you can not set the HR zones. In my testing, the GPS and HR were very accurate. the GPS also locked in a few seconds, quicker than a lot of other watches. Hope that helps!

Wow that is a wide open question. If you have a samsung phone, their watches do offer a few extra health features. The regular Samsung watch 7 will likely do everything need. The Amazfit T rex and Balance are great watches but dont have google apps if you are interested in those. But if you are just looking for basic features you may be fine with a cheaper watch. So I tried this on my Amazfit gt4 4 and asked it the same question and then different ways and all I get is "how about a recipe from your favorite cook book" or "how about I help you fine recipe on line" or "whats to eat app" something like that. Yeah mine never once gave me one. And then mine speaks the T-rex 3 has no speaker

I think you have to be specific with your words- I asked (or demanded) " _give me_ a recipe" I thought it worked well but it is not perfect.

I list the names of all the watch faces in the video. Unfortunately, there is no search feature for watch faces in the zepp app. So you have to scroll They are all there and all free.

yes, but you have to save the location while you are at the location. then you can route back there any time you want. You could also import a GPX file and pick any location.

I would like much more off line voice assistant - Like on Apple watch 10 where it's much more easier to set timers, alarms, ... full multi language translator. And what's the use to say ' 5min countdown ' and then still need to confirm by by touching the watch. Where on Apple you only say '10min' and it nows that you ask to set a 10min countdown timer and it starts it automatically.

The Offline voice assistant has not been updated in some time. I dont think this will be updated. Amazfit now has the Zepp flow, granted you need to be connected to your phone, but it is a much more capable assistant. you can set a 10 min timer and it will automatically start 😀

I hope you are referring the the watchface on the thumbnail- because it took me forever to find it again. Black sand is in the category Sense of technology and quite a way down. Or course this can change... I usually click the top right icon in watch faces and then it shows then all together with the free ones on top.

As far as I know, the Amazfit T rex 3 does not measure lactate threshold. I think it has the hardware for it but the software does not offer the feature.

Amazfit does have an Ultra but it came out in March 2023. The t rex 3 beats it in almost all categories. Amazfit also says screen made of "glass material" on the Ultra, I assume Gorilla glass on T rex 3 is better. Also the Ultra is more expensive, it was initially released at $399 in US, currently it is selling for $299. Amazfit may treat the Ultra as a separate series and it may release an updated T rex "ultra" but as of now it appears that the T Rex 3 is the successor.

I have not thought about this and dont have a great answer. From my data gathering, it looks like it should be safe. But per Amazift- "While a fast charger might work, it's important to ensure it meets the recommended specifications to avoid any potential issues." So that seems to say- use at your own risk.

Really informative - thanks for putting so much effort into it. I've only just received the watch and still becoming familiar with it. My use is primarily for navigating cross country tracks. That's where the maps are 'good' rather than 'excellent', at least for UK conditions. They seem to use the OpenStreet Maps (OSM) which are pretty comprehensive. That's where Garmin are better supported as third party suppliers embellish the basic OSM maps, making them much more detailed. However there is no support for Amazfit watches and anyway there is no provision to import third party maps. Importing .gpx files is very easy to do but it's important to also download the corresponding map (once I forgot to do this!). It still works without the map by just showing the route but obviously it's better to see the route in conjunction with the surrounding terrain. Also, I don't think it is possible to zoom in on a previewed planned route unless the GPS recognises that you're physically in that map area. Please correct me if that is not true! Thanks again!

Does this watch calculate running power or do you need to use it in conjunction with a foot pod in order for these metrics to be recorded? My Coros does this but only while using a foot pod. My Garmin 245 music does not. And info would be greatly appreciated 😊

I dont use that and cant test right now, but per Amazfit, "Raise your game with real-time performance updates, running power analysis, and post-workout summaries of your VO₂ Max, recovery time, training effect, and training load." These features are only supported while using Outdoor Running, Trail Running, and Track Run modes.

Just purchased the T-Rex 3 and I'm disappointed because i thought the T-Rex 2 had much better Watch Faces. I also found several Erroneous statements saying that the T-Rex 3 can share Same Watch Faces as the T-Rex 2, This is Wrong. T-Rex 3 Can Not Use the same faces, so you have to REPURCHES the same watch faces as the T-Rex 2, If they're Available, Many aren't.

I am sorry about that, but I did not talk about that in my video. I did not review the T Rex 2 and did not comment about transferring the watch faces from the 2 to the 3. But I agree if you purchased them, then Amazfit should be able to transfer them (free of charge)- they should be able to make adjustment for the screen size difference.

The Balance and the T rex 3 are designed for different people. I like the speaker and rotating crown on the Balance. But the T-rex 3 has more durable design and actually improves on the battery life. You cant get phone calls because there is no speaker. You will get whatsapp messages though.
