Thanks Rado, for doing such a great job putting this video together. You have been a great source of inspiration, information and help during this process of the build along with Jay Clark. You are a great friend to both Steve and I! We really appreciate you and your channel and we hope someday we can get together and ride! Cheers, Jeremy!

I recently bought a cr250 for 2,500 that was crashed or looped out pretty good, came with brand-new suspension and new big-bore on it sucker rips and the compression is so good, i think iam at 3,800 with new plastics, lectron , skid plate all the good stuff for the trails and i have a bike that i love and she looks pretty, cant beat buying an old bike and putting hard work and sweat into it, the first ride was so satisfying!! Thanks for the inspiration man🤘🏽

Nice clean build Steve.... now go mess that thing up😁 I'm not planning any bike rebuild or restore but your vids keep me more motivated to keep my cluncker running top notch.. In fact, its time for a maintenance weekend 🤔 rear wheel bearings, linkage lube, fork oil change and respring, front rim trueing and engine oil and air filter change.

I think Rado might have me the wrong way on one of my first comments I had left on one of his previous videos. It was regarding the total cost for an average Joe. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful I was just stating the obvious, from personal experience. I was just trying to state, that is very expensive to do this. but I do want to point out, that yes, I do believe it's still worth it, ya know? Sure, I don't have $10,000 up front, but I do have a little bit at a time, especially if it means I get to build my own bike.At any rate, I did the same thing. The bike thats in my picture, I rebuilt from the ground up I didn't have the money to get the frame done and everything but I have a solid bike now, it looks pretty good i think too ( it looks even better than it does in that picture NOW too), and now, it's a solid bike to ride, and I can trust it. I wouldn't have done it, if it wasn't for guys like this. It's because of guys like Rado from dirt and iron, and other guys on KZbin like Lund MX, and Jay Clark, that I even decided to do this. And and honestly, if you're serious about helping people find parts, I'm would prefer to have an FMF fatty on my bike, lol or even a pro circuit pipe LOL? The FMF gnarly is nice, it has great low end, and no doubt about it it's very durable. But I much more prefer to be on the track anyway, it is a great pipe, but I got to be honest I truly miss that top-end horse power you get out of a FMF fatty or pro circuit Platinum header, and I can't find a good pipe for a 97 Honda CR250.?. Maybe the 2001 Honda CR250 pro circuit pipe will fit? But I don't know for sure and I can't gamble unless I know for sure? Maybe someone can help me out. When it's all said and done, including all my mistakes because this was my first build on my own completely, this bike cost me about 10 Grand including the bike. It wouldn't have cost that much but I broke both cases trying to install the crankcase the first time. The right side crankcase apparently had sealing issues and I broke the left side from putting too much pressure while installing the crankshaft. That alone cost me about $1,000 to replace and find a good set of crankcases in good condition for a 97 Honda CR250. That's why it cost so much, ya know? Mistakes were made in the beginning, but they are all ironed out now, and fixed, and now I have a solid bike that I am extremely happy with. Thank you. And I really do appreciate you guys I just want you to know that. God bless.

thank you Josh, you are right.. you can do this one by one and over time dialed your bike 100% to your liking. It doesn't make sense if you only compare $ for build and new bike, it can get expensive. Its a labor of love, not everybody is willing to do that, there is no right or wrong, but it is so cool to bring back old bike and make it better than new!
@joshf8097

@@dirtniron yeah you are not kidding. LOL everybody thought I was crazy but I just did it in pieces you know? They kept telling me you could have bought a new bike. But what they never could understand was that it's easier to buy the bike in pieces essentially, then to buy it all up front brand new. I personally don't have the money up to buy a brand new bike, You know what I mean? So after watching videos like yours, and videos from other people, it made me more willing to do it on my own, (especially because of the fact that every time I called the shop, it was expensive, and they were backed up for months.) So I just said, "hey, I'm going to do it myself" It's because of watching videos like yours, and videos from other people, I learned how to do it. I'm glad I did though. I have a lot of experience now (at least with two strokes) and I'm getting better every day. It was a great experience, and now I have an awesome bike that is reliable and fast. Thank you so much man, I really appreciate it.

@@dirtniron thanks for getting back to me yeah I could learn a lot if you did a video on one of those I bought one the motor seized up so I bought a motor on eBay and that motor seized up I sent it to a shop spent $1,000 on having a rebuild and they ripped me off never replaced any seals reuse the old piston and everything so now I'm stuck with a bike that barely runs leaking everywhere and I am completely broke now thanks to not knowing how to do my own work and trusting a local shop I was thinking if you could do one of these bikes I can watch and learn and rebuild mine myself I wish I could afford to just send it to you to build it for me LOL
