This will be my 2nd time doing a row exercise. The first was just trying by myself. Now I'm at home watching this video to see how to row properly. I need to lose a bit of weight.

2:05.0 @ 23 2:03.9 @ 22 3:01.0 @ 15 (video had an ad break so I started this internal late to try to stay in sync 😂) 2:02.5 @ 22 2:04.5 @ 22 I've not been on the rower consistently since training last winter and spring, only the occasional row and when it comes up in CF classes. Starting to re-engage now, especially since I have my home erg available during shelter-in-place. Felt all over the place, but it was so nice to row along with you, Shane! Good workout!!

Ya, the ad breaks are the unfortunate part of this all. Thinking about taking these videos and making a KZbin membership out of them without ads so people can join ad free. What would you think about that?

Thanks Shane, I’m starting to love working out on my concept. Due to a bicycle accident years ago I was relegated to treadmills but that soon became problematic to my injured knee so the concept 2 was the next steps. You have been a great coach to keep me motivated and this was one of your greats!

Just finished two others of your workouts now you trough this at me . OK! OK!On the funny side doing my early spring yard work the large leaf bags full of wet leaves and tree branches .instead of taking 3 trips with those heavy bags with wheel barrel the 300 metres or so I did it 19 times carrying them like you said do the tighten up and carry them as far as you can before with big heavy bag thing to and from your street. Two month in and now 30 pound gone. Thanks for being there

Thanks for yet another good rowing workout. Could you see adding pulse rate as a possible variant? Recently I started using a CC2 PM5 compatible heart rate monitor that shows on my screen. At nearly 73 years I find this more useful than just working with split time. What are your thoughts on this? Tim in Sweden

This was a challenge for me as a newby to rowing, but I kept my split within 1.5 seconds...great workout! Question for you about drive length...is this something I can or should work on increasing? Just started rowing, and still trying to figure things out. Your videos have been extremely helpful and fun. Thanks!!
@DarkHorseRowing4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can but you need to make sure you add it with good mechanics and not just adding length for the sake of adding length. Mechanics takes priority over length.

Hey, Shane. If halfway through, say, the 3-minute set, I find that I slipped a few seconds behind my target split, should I try to overcompensate and get a few seconds ahead of the split? Or do I just try to maintain the target split? Or - most likely - am I overthinking it?

I find it so hard to use my legs. Maybe it's just because I have a longer torso and shorter legs (6' tall, 30" inseam), or I suck at rowing (new), but I don't get the burn in my legs like I do on an incline elliptical or frankly even when I sprint on the SkiErg.

I held the same split for the first four, and fell apart on the fifth - annoyingly I just feel it was "one of those days". I did manage to complete the fifth though, as hopefully that cements it in my mind that you got to just keep on pushing when it gets really tough.

Thanks for the video, Shane. I use your workout videos since I started rowing. Unfortunately, I can't work properly with your latest videos, because of your choice to integrate music. This kind of music is not my cup of tea. I watch the video on "mute", but then I lose your valuable guidelines ! Is it possible to post the workouts without music ? Thank you anyway for the awesome content. Cheers from France.
@DarkHorseRowing4 жыл бұрын
It's always a hard balance. Some love, some hate, I'm doing the best I can. If YT ever gives the option for people to just mute the background music I'll let you know.

I’m in the exact same boat! Er, rower! I’m a metal guy and the music kills me, same as at my gym. But I love your coaching and videos so much I deal with the music as best as I can. There are other channels that coach without music and I think that works great, I really don’t think you need it. It may keep some people away, in fact. Just like at the gym, almost EVERYONE is in headphones, but the music is super loud even though 90% of people are listening to their own music. I say teach/coach without it and let people listen to what they want. 👍
