Theo, I always hit the thumbs up on nice videos, but rarely subscribe. Your enthusiasm and of course the content and mutual interest in agates, wood, the Yellowstone, etc. has forced me to change course ;) I am now a subscriber!!!!! Looking forward to watching more of your videos!!!! Don't ever lose that enthusiasm young man ;) You remind me of my son Ben. We live in Ohio, but have been fortunate enough to have hunted agates and wood on my favorite of all rivers, the mighty Yellowstone. You made me feel like we were back there...thank you!!!! Best to you, David

This spot is just magical! It is probably my favorite spot in Montana for agates, and it has the added benefit of not being on the Yellowstone so it is immune from high water during runoff! Only downside is that it's like a four hour drive so I don't get to go there too often, which just makes it that much better when I finally do get to go there! I'm excited to show you all once they get slabbed and cabbed! Thanks so much for watching! 😊

Been enjoying your channel. You have some serious talent. It is so special to find an area where the stones are so plentiful. I had a spot in central New Mexico with sand/gravel arroyos leading down to a normally dry river bed. You could drive up to the mouth of each arroyo and go up to the head towing one of those green garden wagons that I bolted a large black hard plastic tote to. The agates, jaspers, wood and quartz were so thick that I would just sit down and start filling two canvas bags with everything in reach and then scoot down the hill to repeat. I could fill 16 four gallon milk crates in a day. I would bemoan the fact that my age and health no longer afford me the opportunity to return, but I have enough material for several lifetimes. p.s. When in the shop, loved the sound of a tumbler running.

Pure awesome!!! What an insane spot to have such a high ratio of goodies, you could of filled an entire house if you stayed longer. was this just because the time of year, and new rocks were uncovered from erosion? definitely unpicked! (well until you cleaned it out ;)

What would sand blasting do to the large hunk if agatized wood? Would it show the fine patterns yet still retain the large grooves and ridges? That may be really interesting.
@gemcollector85084 жыл бұрын
You mentioned yellowstone as a good spot for rockhounding. Where abouts in Yellowstone would you suggest? I'd be driving a long way to get there.
@TheoKellison4 жыл бұрын
I apologize if I misspoke, I meant the Yellowstone River; you definitely don't want to rock hunt inside Yellowstone National Park as it is federally illegal to collect within the park and is strictly enforced. The Yellowstone river though is fantastic for rockhounding! Pretty much anywhere east of Billings is some prime territory for agates and the like!

@@TheoKellison I'm curious! Have you ever watched a Geology Lecture series by Nick Zentner from the Central Washington University? It's been 40 years since I took Geology & I wished I'd had a prof like him. The series is really interesting and I believe any self respecting rock hound, should have a good grounding in geology. This series fits the bill.
