Hi Steve from The Netherlands. I have a home build 230 RT kit whit a Keihin PWK 28 on it. I maybe got lucky by slapping it on there whit the needle and slide it came whit. I got the needle second grove from the top and have put a 124 main jet in it. I did also set the float hight as instrukted in a other vidio from you. I love the way it go's now. It das 18,5 HP on a dyno and go's 70-75 MPH. Please keep those vidio's comming! Thanks Steve!

The best information on atomisation holes is in Weber carburation instructions. The problem the 'compensation' jet holes rectify is to do with the velocity of the air and the mass of fuel drawn into the airflow. The street weasel is calling the compensation jet the atomiser. The mass of fuel is not directly proportional to the velocity. Proportionally, the as the mass of air decreases as the velocity increases. The small 'compensating holes allow more air in as the velocity of the air increases. Without compensating jet holes, the mixture would be week at low air speed and rich at high air speed. My four-stroke race engine has a couple of the compensating holes soldered over. I need to get the air/fuel ration close to 12 at all engine conditions so that it pulls hard out of a corner. 14 is stoic. I estimate that all fuel is not evenly mixed when it reaches the cylinder, so I aim for 12 so that a higher proportion of the fuel will burn when ignited. My bikle has an oxygen sensor in the exhaust and an air/fuel guage on the handlebars. I monitor it on practice days. The aim is to get a ratio of about 12 in all conditions particularly pulling out of a corner.

Excellent video again, nice and clear, very hard to get hold og original PWK carb and parts. Steve, the rear shock adjuster at the bottom (damping) it’s got s- - - - H obviously soft and hard, which way is soft and which is hard ( left for and right for?) when you are looking at it. cheers

Have dealt with pwk on little 2 stroke bikes but not scoots so never had probs with them.Delorto is a real dinosaur,like i said 86 i was running one,still dear no changes in them

I use pwk after your videos. I had a 26 mm delorto house brick and now have a polini 24mm with a lth reed valve and kytronic ignition. I bought a 26mm pwk chinese copy with powerjet.

Great one more pwk user , delorto are like man United. Over rated rubbish
@TheSteelweasel8 ай бұрын
You should try a 20 hole or 30 hole atomiser it's a big difference in power .
@Zacky123457 ай бұрын
@@TheSteelweasel already ordered 20 hole atomiser from racing planet, you mentioned it on previous video. Next thing is to try a decompression port.

@@TheSteelweasel probly don’t need it lol. My barrel is a early mugello 190 i cut ports in the piston with dremel for reed valve. It came with a imola top end a piston with uncut ports. Its been dremel signed by some one called reaper. Had my series 3 since 1986 from my mate for £400 , it came in pieces from a porsche garage in manchester. Been crashed from new in 1974. Its worth £415.26p thats with a green speedo bulb.

Great show love this section,I like the pwk and want too use one for my 230 monza none ported,vape sport ignition,could you give me a base line setting for carb size,main jet,pilot,atomiser holes,running a darrell taylor expansion. Would much appreciate it sick of delorto and tmx prices ,keep up the good work cos I like it

pwk 30 mm with power jet , main 128 pilot , pilot 42 , atomizer 20 holes , start there and work on it dont use the atomiser and jets it comes with . you may need to tweek slide or change for bigger cut away ...... good luck

Hi, what PWK carb would suit RT230 reed cylinder, big box clubman and Casa Air Filter ? Also what base jet settings and slide would you suggest ? Great channel, keep it going 👍
@TheSteelweasel6 ай бұрын
It depends on what you want , power , fuel economy , etc . I never give jetting advice all engine are different and so many combinations its impossible to quote jetting . i give a guide on how carbs work in other videos , if you have no experience in jetting go to someone with a dyno that knows what he's doing . But smaller carbs give better results on road scooters so go for 24mm to 26 mm pwk
@RichieBx526 ай бұрын
@@TheSteelweasel Thanks for reply, having watched your many videos I am thinking of swapping my PHBH30 for a PWK to gain 10mm extra panel clearance on GP, allowing filter options hence the question. Is PWK30 a suitable swap or is the PWK28 a better match to the PHB30 ?

Thank you for this episode, very informative! Are these genuine Keihin carburetors? We source ours through Sudco, the USA distributor of Japanese moto parts. I'm looking at running a PWM38 with a fast road or race tuned RB252. What do you think of this carburetor?
@TheSteelweasel7 ай бұрын
too big for road , 34 mm more than enough
@Lambrettist7 ай бұрын
@@TheSteelweasel It would be for a straightliner flying mile race engine either RB based or Casa SS250 full frame GP. Still too big?

pwm is more of a race carb with a flat front on the slide makes for a smoother bore and more responsive ,great carb
