All the pieces looked great after the acid bath. I do a lot of stones in different acid baths. You should have a bucket of water and baking soda as a neutralizer for any residual acid. I love the stones, I love the technique and I love the energy. Keep the goodness coming.

I use muriatic acid and vinegar often, but I also use baking soda and water to neutralize the acid for an equal amount of time.

A buddy of mine was a rock hound, he used rim cleaner from the auto part store. I'm not sure which cleaner he used. But it active ingredients included Floridic acid, which in my opinion is more dangerous than the muratic acid. But his minerals always Sparkle after cleaning. Great job on the Cleaning. Much nicer cleaned up!

Great technique! I would recommend diluting more (maybe half concentration) and give each piece a quick dunk in a mild CaCO3 solution before rinsing thoroughly.

Hey Elley, the Azurite pieces look amazing after the muriatic acid dip. You had said that you did an internship at the Morenci Mine, and I wanted to ask if you were only able to aquire those Azurite pieces because you were doing the internship? Also can Azurite chunks be found anywhere outside of the Morenci Mine property? Like on any of the BLM lands nearby? I live south of Tucson, AZ in Vail, AZ, and I am going to be going to the Black Hills Rockhounding Area to rockhound Fire Agate, and that area is located just south of Morenci mine by a few miles max. What was your favorite memory of interning at the mine? Fantastic video. I look forward to watching more in the future.

Mix some baking soda and water to dip cleaned crystals to neutralize the acid. Water dilutes the acid, it doesn't neutralize.

Good 👍 job! Many specimens I have cleaned with HCl, especially if it has a clay base. Many stains including copper and IRON are also solvable. Works great on gold stained with iron stone.

I’ve seen this done on old Hudson Valley red bricks before. It cleans and brightens the many years of crud and accumulation off of them and kind of acts as a light sealant.

Thanks for the info. Curious why you don't use baking soda/water mix to neutralize the acid, rather than using soap & water which I wouldn't think would neutralize acid.

Have you ever used vinegar? I use that to beautifully clean them as well as my Flourescent Sodalites to remove algae which tremendously works

Good day, Great video. Does azurite also have green shading naturally occurring? I don't see any other colors in your samples. Thx from mesa county CO...

Do you live in Havasu City? That backyard view looks familiar. I never thought to use this for colored crystals. I soak my quartz in this acid but it takes a while. Also, I was told to use a textile water gun to get the loose crud out of the crevices. A pressure washer works on big rocks but not little delicate crystals.

I recommend searching the course plan for the school near you. You can always get a minor in geology a major is too intense.

you should wear safety goggles when working with acid. Acid on a carbonate that is is risky but the result is nice
