Love the sound toys and Valhalla plugins, probably use them on every track! Favorites are the Soundtoys echo boy, decapitator, and little alter boy, Valhalla verb and space modulator

0:54 “I think this [Tyrell N6] is the best free synth” - Oh my friend, it seems you have not witnessed the power of free plugins in 2021 quite yet. That award goes to these two synths: Vital and Surge. - Vital is basically just free Serum 2.0, it’s got three (vs Serum’s two) fully featured wavetable oscillators, spectral and phase bend modes (Serum has just phase) three filters (Serum has two) stereo separated modulation, FM using lfos, modulation remap, the list goes on. - Surge is another equally powerful synth with 6 multi mode oscillators in addition to wavetable: (FM, PM, Analog, S+H, Modular inspired, etc) a host of really cool routing and feedback features, and a modular effects section with 6 effects and two sends and like 100 or so completely unique effects. Both are crazy powerful, if you want free synths, these are the best of the best, and are honestly on par with our current paid options.

I love Vital. Gotta try Surge…
@KnzoVortex3 жыл бұрын
@@zachary963 Surge is the shit. The airwindows effects really make it. Airwindows stuff is really unlike anything else out there and to have it in a modular effect area is just the coolest. Also just an FYI to save time if you do download it, the default patch is in the preset area "templates", that took me ages to figure out lmao

Nothing against Vital, just had it in my head as a "freemium" synth. Probably should have mentioned it.

Loudness?? That totally doesn't matter anymore...
@zachary9633 жыл бұрын
It does. It’s just that now people can make loud sound good. I usually hit -8 LUFS , and I’m working on getting louder. Using Andrew Schep’s limiting methods helps. Doing good EQ work helps a lot too.
@AnoshterHaar3 жыл бұрын
@@zachary963 nah it doesn't. Tell me why loudness still matters in these streamingservice-days? Let me help you: It doesn't. Do your research mate ... -_- Every single luf you go above -14 (spotify standard) will just be turned down mate. So your squished and limited master will not sound louder, only more distorted...
@TjMoon913 жыл бұрын
@@AnoshterHaar The whole Spotify standard is irrelevant if you’re talking about dance music that will be played by DJs.
@AnoshterHaar3 жыл бұрын
@@TjMoon91 no, a dj is good at it's job right? Gain matching is basically step 1 for learning dj'ing. So if you can't do that, what do you think you are doing again? Next to that if dj's would actually prepare their sets/playlists the loudness fact would not be a problem at all with all helping hands you get these days from software. You see the gain knob on like every dj mixer? That's why loudness doesn't matter in the dj world...
@TjMoon913 жыл бұрын
@@AnoshterHaar You can say IF djs do this or IF they do that. But most don’t. Furthermore, most DJs are already hitting the limit of a mixer. If they mix in a song that doesn’t sound as loud, there’s no more headroom to increase the gain, even if they wanted to. You can pretend that loudness doesn’t matter if you want, but it’s just wishful thinking.
