Assay Office (pronounced 'Ass' 'Say') is where they would assess (hence the name) the value of your mined materials. Usually found in mining towns or around operations of that nature. They would also optionally be a place to sell your mined goods if you decided to do so.

I was there back at the end of December early January for the final week of their Merry Farm Christmas celebration. I hope you keep on visiting Knott's more that Disney. It's hard to find the old school parks. The new stuff is fun but nostalgia really pulls on the heartstrings. Silver Dollar City just announced fire in the hole will be torn down after the 23 season, it's never my first ride but we never miss it.

Stagecoach reminded me of being a Kid, there was a halfsize one on Yarmouth front along with the normal fullsize open tops and there just seemed to be something novel about being closed in for a ride.

I grew up in Garden Grove which is adjacent to Buena Park and Anaheim. At 10 i would ride my bike to either Knotts or Disney. I used to spend a lot of time at both parks, but my favorite place was Liberty Hall by the pond feeding the ducks. Knoitts is classic, but got really noisy after the addition of the rides.

They made a big deal out of a log ride being redesigned at that D park, but the best log ride of any park is at Knott's Berry Farm.

Wow, thank you so much. That brought me so many great memories back to me from my childhood 40 to me 50 years ago. I always got a kick out of old town. I was always excit3d to go look thru the windows. Knotts was the one and only place where my mom rode the log plume ride because dad told her how cool it was on the inside, so she bravely stood in line, i was so excitd because I knew she was never go I ng to ride it again. She rode it like a lady with a mission. I think she even said a quick prayer before we went down. Yes, there was a cute scream she did it! Dad and i hugged her, but she did inform dad and I that was her 1st and last log flume ride that she would take part in. Lol. Thanks for going there. Oh, the stage coach ride was on dirt, not asphalt when I rode it. Lol. Keep up the great work.

I love Knott's Berry Farm so much! I live in Wisconsin but I think of all theme parks I have been to, this is the one I have visited the second most often next to Great America in Gurnee. There is just so much to do and see there. It is not just about the rides and I love it.

Knott’s is an amazing SoCal theme park before I got my pass I completely forgot about the stage coach rides. You don’t find as many of those around these days especially without a special fee or charge. Thanks for the Vlog.

This is giving mad nostalgia and memories as a kid . Haven't been to this or any theme park since the late 90's. I remember the fried chicken was really good. I used to go about every year due to my father's work. I remember being very excited about it. Like, when we told we going to Knotts the first thing I asked was can we eat the fried chicken? I remember the train robbers and actually being really scared each time. I went on each year but every time I thought "this is it, they're really gonna rob us this time".

Knott's started as a tiny roadside fruit stand and then Mrs. Knott sold chicken dinners on her own plates. It was so popular that they built a little restaurant and the people waited in long lines to get in. After expanding the crowds got even bigger and Walter Knott decided to create a western town to entertain the crowd waiting for 2 hrs in line as it snaked around the town. I believe that the buildings were rescued from the ghost town of Calico in the 30s and 40s, it was the original theme park IMO. Walt Disney was known to have been there many times before Disneyland. And that's how it all started...

They used to have one of those observation tower rides in Oklahoma City at the State Fairgrounds. It was a double decker car from the 1960s. Unfortunately, the city refused to replace the generator and allowed it to rot.

Nearly all the people in the buildings used to move ! Sad to see that they don't move anymore . course their very old. Like One eye Joe said the been there for 70+ years .I loved riding the stage coach and the train! They used to hijack both and you got robbed .they gave you everything back at the end . it was fun its been to many years now since I was there. Last time was in 1981. Forever it seems like a life time ago!

Hello Carpetbagger! Have you ever attended a Day of the Dead celebration in California? The one at Hollywood Forever Cemetery is top rate. Go VIP and get your face painted for the whole experience. You will love it. Lots of Hollywood level make-up, elaborate altars all around the graveyard, music, dancing Aztecs, plus food, drink, and merch. The evening is far better than the day, but you can do both on the same calendar date (two separate tickets).

I last visited Knott's Berry Farm in 1981 when I was 9yo. First and only time. Viewing your video, I was trying hard to place the sights against my memories, but being so young at the time, I have more of like vague impressions of the trip than actual solid memories. The only real memories I have are based off of the few photos of the trip. What stands out in particular is me getting a caricature done by an artist at the park, he did it with a permanent marker. I still have it! I don't remember how much it cost. I wonder if they still offer that at KBF? I agree with some of the comments here that for the most part KBF has maintained its essence. I love that. I don't think I would recognize Disneyland or WDW anymore if I ever go there again, so much has changed to them. Love KBF, I have a fondness for that park. Thank you for this video. ❤️

The Calico Mine Ride reminds me of the former Natures Wonderland/Rainbow Caverns Train Ride at Disneyland.
