I've had a lot of fun with the little single board computers, dev boards, and microcontrollers etc. They are often so inexpensive that I've been sending complete kits to family and friends for gifts. The Pi Zero with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is still an amazing computer for less than ten dollars. It has been awhile since I pulled any lists, but there were over different companies producing and selling their own little computers. Today there is likely many more even less expensive dev board computers available

That's not entirely true. Raspberry pi is a multipurpose computer. It can run Linux and Windows as well as Android. It is geared more towards development, since it can run servers and can be programmed as a microcontroller. It has native support for its own camera and can run AI with object recognition. The possibilities are endless, you can use it for whatever you want. You can even put multiple of them together as a cluster to form a more powerful computer.

In case you're wondering how to power it, you can get a slim power bank and use adhesive to hold it. Just make sure that the current output is enough to power everything and you get a good quality power bank if you need reliability :)

They're the same in the sense they're both computers, sure. What's different is a raspberry pi is a clean slate, it's not locked down in any way. You can rig up a raspberry pi to steal credit cards just by putting it near someones pocket. You can rig up a raspberry pi to sift through all the traffic on a public network. You can rig up a raspberry pi as a portable NAS. You can rig up a raspberry pi as an entire home media center. You can rig up a raspberry pi to be a web hosting server. Can't do any of that with the large majority of phones, and in some cases any phone in general :)

Go to microsoft's IoT website, download a copy of the OS and write it onto an SD card using Etcher and put it in your raspberry Pi. Done! Warning, it crashed pretty often running on my Pi 3 B+. I use it on my tinker board with not much issues. I recommend getting a SBC with more RAM and a little more power for windows.
