It is good practice to hook up the + battery terminal first, before the ground terminal. That way, you will not start a fire if your tool touches metal when connecting the hot wire. When removing a battery, disconnect ground first. (A&P, 101) Surprised you didn't get a big spark at 26:35. I was working in a hangar full of new planes, when a co-worker informed me he had a fire in the nose of an Aztec. He got on the battery plus terminal first and his tool touched the heater fuel line, arcing a hole in it and poof. I asked him, "Don't you think it would be a good idea to put it out?" I causally grabbed a fire bottle and extinguished it. We just had to replace the fuel line and clean some dark smoke smudges off the underside of the radio compartment shelf. @8:20, IF there is a bushing in the tab sticking up from the lower cowl, that engages the pin at the front of the top cowling, I would replace it. (@9:30 OMG, that looks like a home made bracket with no bushing at all.) Original bushings don't last as long as the upgraded ones from an aftermarket company. If the pins are snug in the bushings, the cowls will last longer, won't vibrate and it will be quieter. Don't wash a Brackett air filter. Read the label on the bag it comes in. When it's dirty throw it away, or stick it in your lawnmower. At 20:02 there aren't any screws holding the muffler shroud together. When are you going to fix that? Here's another tip: Cut the bottom out of an empty oil bottle. Now you have a disposable funnel. Don't wipe a plexiglas windshield unless you first throw a bucket of water over it to get the loose grit off first. Jason, I hope you don't mind my constructive criticism, but all of us old A&P/I.A. types that watch you need to give you help when we can.
@jerrywilcox989011 ай бұрын
It doesn't matter what one you hook up first 😂.
@2321brendan11 ай бұрын
@@jerrywilcox9890 It does. If you hook up black first (connected to metal fuselage)and your spanner touches the red terminal and another metal part of aircraft you will get sparks. If you Hook up red first , and touch spanner against red + and fuselage ,no sparks. The circuit is not complete as the fuselage is not connected to -Black. You should always disconnect at least black when working on aircraft or cars. That way any part of the metal body is dissconnected from the battery. Always disconnect black first and reconnect black last. Go out and try it on your car.Google it🤣🤣

@@jerrywilcox9890 Of course. You are never wrong . Cant possibly be . Done it this way forever ,so it must be good. Cant possibly learn anything new after 37 years hey? Go out to your car. Take off positive cable. Then grab a metal object. Place metal object across positive terminal and a bare metal part of the vehicle. Make sure you are holding on real tight. Push firmly. Make sure there is a fuel leak nearby,prefferably gasoline. Or an overcharged battery 37 years is no guarantee it cant go wrong tomorrow.

Soak that window as if a bucket of water was poured on it. Alcohol base products will turn plexiglass windows yellow. FYI

Each one takes allot of time. Getting parts, getting props, engines, Mags, and other things rebuilt or inspected, all takes allot of time. To put it in context, if you ever watched a TV show like Bitchin Rides, allot of those builds took two years or longer. So, the production company was sitting on footage for 2 years or more before they could actually edit it into an episode, or a couple of episodes that cover a project from start to finish. Now, that is custom cars, not aviation. One is allot more expensive and regulated with necessary inspections than the other.

I wouldn't place those fuel tank filler caps down on the wing like that as they will pick up dirt & dust & put it into the fuel tanks. I'd place them facing up so they remain clean & you can see if the sealing gasket is in place & in good condition & if there's any condensation inside the tank present on the cap.
