Thank you Skylar! Woodturner here. I have been turning for a short while but haven't found a finishing system as straight forward as you describe. I ordered a finishing kit from Skylar Ewing website today. Looking forward to trying it out. Thank you very much!❤

That looked really nice, even before you put the wax on it. Then, the wax gave it a beautiful finish. It seems like you're always right on time. I just added some regular woodworking to my laser work, and I have been looking for a good way to finish my projects. Thanks!

Great video Skyler! These are my go to finishes on so many projects. If my fellow woodworkers want to up their finish game, this is the way to do it.

Very beautiful work, I just found your channel about a month ago. I love your videos and they have helped me take making my boxes to a whole new level. I’ve started making them with finger joints. Plus the way you make some of your lids plus using the bottom to create a shadow line. Thank you for your ideas keep it up

This is brilliant....I've recently become a cross maker and comforted to know other woodworkers who make crosses....click, subscribed. I'm currently creating my 4th cross as a self commission for a Church. I've created the crosses from the stock I had for a camper renovation project using lap joints and epoxy (like yourself) to give design and details. my work isn't perfect as it's all hand carved or for intricate work, using the Dremel tool, still not perfect like a cnc machine though humble in appearance, the Dremel sure allows for some great detail. Truly keep going with crosses and boxes and all you are inspired with, I really look forward to see more of your work.

I agree... that wood is gorgeous. I'm curious what type of rosewood that it is. I've seen Bolivian and Patagonian types. What type is the wood you used for the cross?

Nice finish! I wonder if that would work as well on open grained wood? Enjoy the new shop!
@woodworkingwithSkylerКүн бұрын
I am sure it will close the grain a little but you are probably better filling the grain first by buffing it with shellac and pumice
@peteblunda494Күн бұрын
@@woodworkingwithSkyler I question whether the pumice would show in the grain. Maybe adding the Tripoli on a dark or red wood would be less obvious?
@reloadNshootКүн бұрын
I would recommend a good sanding sealer to close the grain. It's clear/translucent and works like a champ.

Mistake not to do the back. Yes it’s going against the wall…eventually… but someone is going to pick it up, feel, and examine it prior to that. Always finish all surfaces of smaller projects.
@woodworkingwithSkylerКүн бұрын
:) I did end up doing the back as well
@jfide650Күн бұрын
@HBSuccess you must not have listened very carefully, big mistake, because at 6:45 she said she was doing the back.
@robertstrickland2121Күн бұрын
Agree, and the back will absorb moisture at a different rate, causing warping over the years.

So you need to buy her product to get a good finish. Ha ha. This is a marketing video - not a finishing video.
