I'm very glad that you finally did this song, i knew you would like it. I've heard a lot of versions of this very traditional song by various artists but in my opinion no one is able to transport the beauty and melacholic sweetness of this song like Elvis did. A stunning proof of Elvis' outstanding vocal abilities and his unreached ability to touch peoples heartsan souls with the unique beauty of his voice.

Recorded February 5, 1976 from his Graceland home, Memphis, Tennessee where RCA had set up recording equipment. Sad to know that Elvis died less than 2 years later at Graceland. Beautiful rendition; thank you for your reaction.
Great reaction to an absolutely beautiful song! Your journey down the Elvis rabbit hole mirrors mine - you go from enjoying him to really appreciating his unique voice and overall talent to being truly blown away by the phenomenon that he was…and still is. And even then you feel you’re just scratching the surface, as you said. Sometimes people say he’s a once in a lifetime talent. But he was once ever because his combination of exceptional talent and personality and humility and looks can never be duplicated or even come close.

Really appreciate your reaction, you made me smile. I've been an Elvis fan for a very, very long time. Elvis got stuck making movies for all of the 1960s and a movie album came out with each one. Some of the songs were good, but most weren't. And while Elvis' fans knew his talent, the industry just wrote him off. Then came the 1968 Comeback Special and the raw talent Elvis displayed in the early days came roaring back. He's been mocked and maligned since his death, but it makes me very happy that young people are beginning to appreciate how talented he was. This song makes me bawl my eyes out every single time I hear it. He truly was one of a kind. I hope wherever he is he's smiling, knowing he'll forever be remembered.

I agree with you in the main regarding Elvis's talent but I don't fully agree with you that he has been mocked and maligned since his death.Of course there will always be the haters but generally Elvis is a revered world icon seen virtually everywhere.Only a couple of years ago he was awarded the Presidential Medal by Donald Trump. He has had stamps and coins made in his name and stills sells records by the millions each year.He will be remembered long after most of what is around today.👑

They don't call this guy for nothing.👍🙂👑

@@davidgibbs7232 Why I said "mocked and maligned" is because of all the Elvis impersonators. They all portray him as fat, with stupid hair pieces and mock his accent. That has disgusted me for a long time. Even online, so many constantly saying he stole from the Black culture or putting him down because he didn't write his own songs. Many singers don't write their own songs and most didn't back when he first started. Writing the songs is one part of the equation; giving those lyrics life is the other part. And Elvis was a genius at owning a song and making you feel it. I said somewhere else that Paul Simon, who wrote Bridge Over Troubled Water, said he could never perform his own song again after hearing Elvis' rendition. That says everything. I do agree with you that fans have always stayed loyal to Elvis and always will. I've been an Elvis fan since my preteen days. I saw all the movies and was stunned, STUNNED, when I saw the '68 Comeback Special and heard the record That's The Way It Is. So talented. He had terrific comedic timing in his movies. And was pretty good in dramas too. I have Elvis stamps. Not sure if I have the coins. Will have to check that out.

I’ll try to explain my thoughts as best I can, here we go… all my life I’ve been a music lover. People would often ask who my favorite singer or band was and I could never name one. I always replied, I have an eclectic taste, which is true, pick a genre, there is a song I like, so I often summed up my taste as: I like songs and not necessarily artists. Until, for some reason I started listening to more Elvis music (I had already liked some of his tunes), he wasn’t new to me. I don’t know if it was because I was more mature and aware of my sense of being (I can’t give a straight answer), but suddenly, I kept liking and enjoying each song more then the previous, I then started to create different Elvis playlists to listen and watch. As it stands, I cannot go a day without listing to his voice. Not only it is the most beautiful sound a human can emit, but he makes me feel it. I laugh, cry, dance, dream and/or smile every time I listen to him. Now, when people ask me, I always answer Elvis is my favorite singer! ❤ Sorry for the long post and please continue to react to the one and only Elvis Presley!

I’m so glad you love Elvis and his song , he made me believe in God ! I was raised by people who used God to torture me for 24 Years I was finally rescued in 1984. There are 3 versions you must check out. Mario Lanza singing this. Elvis absolutely loved Lanza. He felt he had the greatest singing voice. The other is Jackie Wilson live-Jackie was an absolutely unbelievable talent. He was one of a kind! Elvis, had a very unique "thing" to his voice, it's hard to describe. So much personality, and there is this familarity with his volce, as if he is someone you know. Tremendous personality in his singing.

Check out Jackie Wilson's cover of this classic! This is good by Elvis, but Jackie put a soulful spin on it.

Get the Elvis is Back album. His voice and his confidence is at its peak. As one writer said, Elvis’s singing on this album isn’t sexy. It’s pornographic.

Great reaction to a man not the greatest in any of the individual musical components of an all round entertainer, but put them altogether and you have something magnificent IMHO.
