Our favorite fruit tree! Did you know fuyu persimmons could grow in Washington? When are fuyu persimmons ripe? How do you care for persimmon trees? Well, here in Western Washington, the fuyu persimmon does great and doesn't need much care. They get ripe around Thanksgiving, although you'll need to pick them and bring them inside for a few days to soften and sweeten up. We love this tree!

Persimmon is my favorite fruit. I purchased a tree 2 years ago from an online nursery, but I don't think it was healthy and it eventually succumbed within a year (the nursery also wasn't very accommodating when I contacted them about it too). So I'm looking now to buy one from a local nursery because I really do want grow one and I've seen your videos on your persimmon and am jealous.

Hello, really nice to see the persimmons. I have a 2 year old tree but I don't see any yield yet. I have a 5 year old nectarine too which is big but does not yield fruit. I dont know much about fruit trees. Do you need to fertilize fruit trees?

Persimmons don't seem to need fertilizer.

I saw some persimmons were still green, so it is ok to cut them even they are not all orange color?

For the Fuyu variety, yes you can pick them partly green and they will ripen indoors.

Mine is about 10 ft wide. Yes, you can prune it and keep it pretty small.

Great Channel! I need help to distinguish if it's a fuyu or American Persimmon. It's a Mature 9 ft tall tree and no sign of fruit flowers. Thanks in Advance.

You have an Asian Persimmon. American Persimmons get 30ft plus tall and the trunks are usually straight as an arrow. The persimmons are much smaller and are always astringent. Just because your permission is Asian doesn't mean it's a Fuyu. If it's astringent it's another variety plus there are various varieties of non-astringent Asian Persimmons. Hope that helps.

@@bank80 I've got ripped off by local nursery. He purposely gave me common american persimmon tree to get rid of from the nursery. I couldn't tell difference from other fuyu i bought with it due to early spring/no leaves. Thanks for your help..

Once per year, in the early spring. But I've heard it doesn't really need to be pruned.
