@@angelmccoy8725 I've just been listening to more of Nell, only discovered her the other day, and she sure did have a very powerful belting voice and a piercing sassy bluesy sound, and a unique style in which she put it down. Her stage persona was excellent too, made for Broadway, super energised and at one with the music, technical vocal skills and accurate speed of voice diction etc.. A very talented woman. I wish she'd have become a recording artist, put down a few albums in the studio with some top producers, funky tracks and big soulful ballads.

@@dorohotsinne Aretha claimed this song in 1972, nobody comes near. Then in 1973 she drove from her Midtown luxury hotel and just turned up at a Harlem church totally unannounced and gave the congregation the treat of their lives. Folklore has it that she was possessed by a higher power as she sang Amazing Grace for the shocked congregation, the story has it that she left the church in a state of total chaos, a congregation totally wiped out by the ferocity of her voice. Nobody sings Amazing Grace like Aretha did in the early 70s, in fact nobody sang anything better because the voice is in a league by itself, with no rival. Nell has a big expressive voice though, without doubt.
