i prefer the vk-107 over the Yak-3U because it flies better at medium-high alts where the lower IAS means it's tougher to reach compression/wing-rip speeds. shout out to F2G pilots with 145IQ tactics

@@satagaming9144 It's v. hard to play F2G right, because of brainless teams. Let me explain - I go into a climb, we have 7 fighters and 1 perfectly interceptor-capable attacker. Eventually EVERYONE but me dives after Ju-288. THen it's me vs Bf 109 K4 and Ta-152H - a fight I can only run away from. They play it smart, and then 3rd German fighter comes in and it turns out my entire team is dead and it's 1 v 3 vs people with alt advantage. 1 v 1 F2G can take on Ta-152H, not on equal terms, but it's close enough. But it should never be 1 v 1 because F2G basically ALWAYS has advantage of multiple fighter teammates. The problem is - those teammates are absolutely brainless, and if someone is playing 5.7-6.0 Germany, he at least knows it's climb or die.

I spent about 20 minuts typing up a really good response but seems KZbin ate it, So Ill give you the jist: Look at you games, find at what range you re most comfortable firing from, then set you convergence accordingly. Im not great at the game, Im half way decent. So my advice may not be sound, Im clued in enough to know not to go head on with 109 K, unless I really really want to. And to always go head on with the Ju 288 "Plague Rat" whenever possible. Everything else is very situational.

Jup. It's also not too difficult to work around their issues if you are aware of them. It's much more difficult to work around high speed rudder stiffening in an aircraft that's almost exclusively a boom and zoomer.

So this video convinced me to buy the plane, and I've been learning a lot. It's in just the right spot of sort of being a forgiving jack of all trades without just handing me wins. Holds energy very well, and can turn with Spitfires in a pinch, but won't outturn everything. Accelerates well, but compresses if I'm not careful. Climbs stupidly well, but gets outclassed above 5kish. Powerful nose mounted cannons with low ammo reward careful aim and securing the best solution I can. It's good enough at everything to make up for my mistakes but just unforgiving enough to force me to learn. Well, that and all the ju 288s in that BR are great practice for target prioritization, like am I in a spot where I can get him out now before he climbs to space at hypersonic speeds, or is someone about to dive on me because they're using their lobotomized teammates as bait? Funny story though is buying eagles for it is the first time I ever spent money on the game. I didn't know how much it cost, I just bought a chunk of eagles that seemed reasonable based on the 260 hours I'd already put in at the time. Then I bought it and realized I'd just spent $30something on one plane 🙃

my aim kinda sucks too but a little tip i found workig: first allign the flying path of your enemy then always aim much more than you would normally and just spray, always a chance to get a crit or a kill or even a spark (hooray) better to spend your ammo and do something than die with unused belts ;)

The issue with passive high level players is that they usually check the profile of who they're going to engage. Since I'm only level 29 and only play French planes they often think I'm a free kill, get careless, and make a lot of mistakes, only awarding them a faster hangar return opportunity. Your VTE tag + your account probably makes them hesitant to engage so you get a lot more of passive fights

I got this plane about 2 years ago. I think i had a coupon for it, or it was a sale, but I got it relatively cheap (more than 50% off), that's why i even brought it. I know i barely ever flew it, do to back than the Russian 20mm was like: lot of sparks but not much damage (I was using the ground belt). But its ammo was very limited, so 1.5 - 2 kills were the standard, before i had to RTB; if I still had a team that is, so i could. + I think its the only "all metal" Yak-3 in the game.

You're not the only one experiencing weird damage models, hit the right tail of an F-82 the other day with the 30mm in the D-12 no less than two times, watched the shell literally detonate in the tail, and it kept flying perfectly fine. Or yesterday where I dumped a lot of 20mm into a Mk9 firing perpendicular to my 190 A-5... "critical hit" but he keeps flying just fine. At least the Pe8s still die to 20/30mm, Ground RB would be unplayable if they didn't.

Hey DEF; the Ki-83 at around 18:00---how do you know he didn't recognize you and decide to try and beat you at the Patience Game? Especially if he was ahead on points. I'd do it...but I'm kinda trolly towards so-called "experts." (In your case, you're a *real* expert, but I'd still have a strong urge to "pull the lion's tail."😅) I'm curious if opponents ever try to use your reputation against you? Also, the Yak-3/107...it's a bit OP; they don't seem to include any of the IRL problems which came with stuffing that super-powerful (for WW2 Russia, anyway) engine into such a small airframe. There were over-torque problems with the prop; the cooling system was somewhat inadequate, and the oil pressure tended to spike. This meant a lot of engine boilovers and seal failures/oil leakage. That's why they decided in the end not to produce this variant, and keep the VK-107 in the Yak-9 instead.

(Said 1350hp interim engine from 1941-42 was dropped in favor of pushing R&D towards the VK-107 despite the fact that the 106 _had the same overheat & oil leakage problems as the 107 would!!!_ Guess they thought they'd solve it second time around...) It was a case of wartime expediency & "hurry up we need this _now"._ The Yak-3/107 (which, if you read some pilot narratives, had all the engineering stability of a firecracker stuffed into a burrito) was probably the last example of this Russian problem (that ran through most of their aircraft & to a lesser extent, their afv development).

Not to sh*ttalk the Ki-83, for the one energy mistake he kept making, there were multiple times he broke off due to risk of equalizing energy. But he did leave teammates to die once or twice and that's what sealed the deal.

This Yak's don't rip their wings off , something is completly wrong the last days . I got almost ovetaken by a Yak 9 in my Me262 at 800kph at low altitude , I watched the replay and he dives down on me with 790kph no problem . We were at 500m , it's just ridicolous how fast props can fly at low altitude in WT .

@@ELITE-xn3sh J2M3 has a more reasonable BR than the J2m2. I'm intrigued about the bv-155, from what I've heard it turns well but is underpowered. I think if more fights occurred at very high altitudes you might be right, but I just find myself stomping bv-155s for their poor acceleration. Never flown it tho, could be wrong, I respect your opinion.

@@ELITE-xn3sh people love to discuss energy retention, which is good because it's important, but I think what is equally important is energy generation. Energy fighting isn't about keeping energy, it's also about making it, climb rate and acceleration can win dogfights too.

@@Fuzeha energy retention is mostly described as , i go 200 kph at 1000m , i dive down , zoom up , and then i will be able to get back at 1000m . This perfection is only in some aircraft. Boom and zoomers like the yak , bf 109 can do this play style. While manuevering planes like the spitfire certainly cannot. Energy retention is something else than lets say pure rate of climb.

@@Fuzeha i have flown the BV 155 when i got the test flight. 5 games ,16 kills , 1 death. I really like it since i also did a couple of close in merges with a friend of mine. It turns out to be an excelent dogfighter , and a pretty mediocre-bad energy fighter. It have absolutely ripping dive speed , great turning below 500 IAS and very usefull flaps. But my problem was its top speed is Very , and i mean very bad. You need to be above 3k to reach good speeds (450+). And the climb rate is rather slow. At a 3.7 br where not very good players are pitted in, i can imagine that you stomp them , and i stomp enemies with it. Absolutely worth it for a free reward , wish you try it out!
