I would say only an idiot would call the horse an idiot - especially without finding out what happened via the stewards report . The horse did his part and won the race after all

At a subsequent inquiry it was established that although King of Bling has contributed by shifting in, driver Nic Dyer has also contributed to the severity of the incident by his lack of control leading up to the horse shifting in and his inaction when the horse has shifted. Nic Dyer was found guilty under rule 168(1) for careless driving and had his license to drive suspended for 4 weeks.

To many things can go wrong in a race to blame the horse.

Correct. I am pretty sure the horse did not go to the box and enter himself....

Has nothing to do with this horse being an idiot. I saw what appeared to be his head being pulled to the left, and where the head goes, the body follows. Looks like driver error to me. No racehorse is going to do what this horse did, on purpose. I know this from spending years with race horses.

looks like the right line broke. I saw that happen with Herve Filion driving a horse at Yonkers or Roosevelt in the 70's or early 80's....he pulled himself up on the horses back and grabbed the bit or a little piece of line that was left and pulled the horse to the outside fence to stop him, and save something like this from happening......

No horse is an idiot first of all! From the looks of it the jockey was pulling to hard to the left and the horse wasn't able to stop going left bc the body follows the head!

Looked like a tack malfunction, aka a broken bit. I have seen bits break before in racing and the horse will veer hard in one direction because all the pull is suddenly on one side of the mouth.

He didn't do that because he felt like it. I just got on the bike last year for the first time to train and I know I am going down. It's just a matter of time. It's never the horses fault in these accidents.

He was locked on the left line , it happens in racing it's kinda like if you lose your steering on a car and the alignment goes outta wack, driver couldn't do much...

That is absolutely normal horse behavior. Please don't call this breed bad names. Standardbreds are great horses and need GOOD exposure to find quality homes.

Horses have a mind of their own! It obviously wasn't the driver there are 2 main reasons on why a driver wouldn't do that! 1: it endangers everyone in the field 2: plain and simple idiotic and who would do that?

A broken line or bit. A head pole is basically to help them stay straight in the turns. If the don't have their head turned, there is no pressure on the head pole.

Ma no offense but who ever calls a horse an idiot well the person calling it that is an idiot because the horse bolted to the left because of the rider. The horse was in pain and if u watch closely the rider was whiping the horse like crazy remember never blame it on the horse. It's always something the rider did or something that spooked the horse. NO OFFENSE...

Wade Tomaszewski more like he was copping a flogging.. right hand whip... was shying away from the whip in my opinion
@taxisteve929
@taxisteve929 5 жыл бұрын
My first thought was the outside line snapped, it's not like he was shying away from something, this was a sustained turn...As if the driver grabbed a hold of the lines not knowing what to do after it broke. I've seen this happen before, but never in a cavalry charge like this, it's the worst line to break because you can't stare the horse to the outside fence away from the others. I remember Herve Filion at Yonkers or Roosevelt Raceway having this happen nearing either the quarter or the three-quarter pole, pulling himself up onto the horses back, working his way up to grab the 2 inches of rein still attached to the bit, and steering the horse to the outside fence to a stop!! It was a combination of amazing athleticism, and the ability to keep an incredibly cool head under an extremely tense situation. It wasn't supposed to be televised, but they showed it on racing from Roosevelt or racing from Yonkers TV show and I remember Stan Bergstein commenting on it

Neville Smith I thought of that but if you look at the replay, he's had about seven times and keeps a totally straight line. I don't believe he was really nailing him. The horse was obviously going past and pulling away at that point, They don't beat horses anymore thank God. Drivers haven't been allowed to hit a horse hard in the United States for many years, and I know that when they were swinging that whip, 99% of the time they were hitting the sulky shaft or the saddle pad to make a noise which scared the horse and made him go faster. And now, the drivers must keep both hands in the hand holds when using the whip so it is more of a tapping emotion. This guy was swinging, but I assume hitting the shaft or saddle pad. I do remember when horses used to come back with welts on them after a race in the 1960s and 70s and it made me sick. I also remember drivers beating the horse after the race, and inevitably, it was some driver/trainer with three horses who had back his money and lost because the poor old crippled couldn't go fast enough. I remember seeing the horse and the horse didn't even blink as he was getting hurt and thinking this motherfucker should die. There's a special place in hell for those trainers. Hopefully there's a horse in charge. Lol
