I ate at Ichiran in Hongkong, and the cubby system is absolutely genius for those times when you just want to eat some comfort food without having to look at or talk to another human.

Always interesting listening to native Japanese speaking english(no offense meant). As someone trying to learn Japanese I am beyond impressed how well transitions from JP->En->JP->En is for a lot of people. Ive always had a hard time with the order of things moving between English to other languages, like spanish. Kudos.

I know that Ichiran isn't as refined as the "real" ramen shops, but I just love the soup and the way you can customize it. I like putting way too much garlic and spice in there, perfect. And the private booths are so good if you're stressed-out by the hectic Tokyo life. Just a heavenly little 10-minute break of "you time".

I just finished one of these. I had ordered it off eBay from someone in Japan (I'm in the UK). It didn't cost me much either, about £12 for the ramen, and about £3 for shipping. I have to say, of all the ramen I have tried so far, this Ichiran is the best so far. I wish they sold them here in the UK. I also wish we had Ichiran restaurants here in the UK also, they have them in the US, but not here.

Nongshim has a tonkotsu ramen bowl with optional spicy paste packet that I really like. Better than the Maruchan tonkotsu bowl (which is also still pretty good).

I miss Ichiran ramen so much. Since I moved back to America I’ve been trying to find a good copycat recipe but every time I try to make my own ramen I blow it. They do have those kits but to import them ends up being like $40.
