Same, I had the tonkatsu Ocean's Halo ramen and it was so bad I tossed it out after two bites without finishing. It tasted like it had no salt and it had a strong bitter flavor.

The Ippudo instant noodles are supposed to taste pretty close to what they serve in the restaurant because that was the selling point when the Seven-Eleven convenience store developed the product in joint with the ramen restaurant. They wanted to create instant ramen products that taste like the real thing in the restaurants.

The Nissin Curry cup ramen is soooo good!! I always get that one at the store. Also if you like fish, there is a Seafood one with little pieces of re-hydrated calamari, fish, scrambled eggs, green onions, and cabbage - the sauce is thick on it as well just like the Curry one. Good stuff!

I moved away a decade ago and thought I was over missing Seattle, but man I miss the rain. Also, I've been trying a lot of different instant noodles the past year thanks to you and some other channels. Gotta say, I think personally Korean ramen is the winner for me. There's something about the bold spices and subtle simplicity of the ones I've tried that just really hits the perfect ratio. I did the same instant ramen taste test at home, except I got the Ichiran that comes in a box and the soup base is liquid. Ichiran was $31.58 5 packs $6.31 serving, Ippudo was $42.07 4 pack $10.52. Ichiran wins is cheaper and tasted better. But I never had the Ichiran cup noodle, so may not be as good as Ippudo cup noodle. I will bring Ippudo on road trips!
