It looks like you could run the vent out the side of the dryer. Most dryers allow this, as in this dryer there is a 5" round punch out on the side of the dryer on the left side, as can be seen in the video. So there should be one also on the other side. This also makes the dryer much more efficient as well as can be closer to the wall.

Most modern dryers need to be disassembled to use their side vents.

Have you seen Jyst how long it takes to side vent? You have to take the whole dryer apart!

It works for a vent that is exposed like the one in the video or if it was in the floor, but what about when the vent is in the wall ? Get rid of your plastic flex hose.

Ironically I need to vent... None of this should be this hard whether it be a new home or home that's 40 years old it boggles my mind that the home builder and the architect have evidently never had to install a clothes dryer... I would bash on the manufacturers but I understand from a gravitational standpoint why you want the vent hole on the dryer on the bottom I also understand that they make attachments like this.. my biggest complaint is the amount of room that most home builders much less apartments give you to install any of these things in what world do these people live in?

At first I thought this was a good idea....then... I realized that most dryers move while operating as a result of vibrations. Often this movement will appear to make the dryer 'walk' across the room. With this type of dryer hose connection, it seems you could easily disconnect the vent, and unknowingly vent very flammable lint into the room?
@jeffw80575 жыл бұрын
@@cabguy1006 Really? I've personally owned around 10+ dryers in my life...and they have all moved. Sometimes it's a result of an unbalanced load, sometimes just the act of loading and unloading will shift the fairly lightweight drying machines from their initial spots....especially on smooth surfaced floors. I have a couple rental homes (beach) where towels are often washed/dried, and those machines move quite a bit, and often the machine has to be positioned multiple times each month. No, the 'walking' is not on a per load basis, and instead is the accumulation of subtle movements over weeks. But they do move.
@paulrobilotti92944 жыл бұрын
@@cabguy1006 , agree never had a dryer the moved while working
@j0539h3 жыл бұрын
Its not because you have some other issues with your dryer , that this is a bad idea. Fix your dryer 'walking' issue FIRST.

Adding the felt pads would make the dryer mover more easily when in use.

+Jamie if you don't have a dryer box, you need this amount of space to route the vent hose regardless.

If you look at the side of your dryer you will actually find punch outs that are intended to allow you to vent through the side of the dryer. This will save about 4 inches behind the dryer. Just did mine and made a huge difference.

I don't think I've EVER seen a more difficult and complicated way to run a dryer vent hose - a true Rube Goldberg contraption. The Ziggurat system is FAR simpler and requires no tools.

I think this does solve a problem, particularly in tight spaces. On the other hand, if you don't think keeping your dryer vent clean, or you have a lot of space to get behind the dryer, then this product might not be for you. I think it's great, imo.
@freedomisfromtruth6 жыл бұрын
Awesome product. If theres only room for washer and dryer in a bathroom, how do you attach the hose to the dryer then crawl out over the dryer or fly out? Or have an extra long dryer vent hose to try to contain as you push the dryer in place.
@mikeberumen3446 жыл бұрын
I think this is a great answer for a real problem. The current common system is a huge problem looking for better solutions, e.g., what if the external vent is parallel to the dryer vent?

Lighten up Francis es, it is another option to hook up a dysfunctional way designers don't listen to there consumers and service techs , if somebody invents a better way , oh , lets here about heat pump dryers and I guess you really have to clean the lint traps every time you do a round of drying, but there is no exhaust to deal with and it is all electric , we will see!!!!!!!!!!!!

@rondenhollander43136 жыл бұрын
Will need to be cleaned every few days, bad design and the use of soft foil venting as shown voids warranty. Not a good idea at all. Read supplied manufacturer instructions, or look online , and only install according to instructions. Dryers can last 30 years if installed proper, if installed as shown premature failure will happen .

No, i have been searching for a product just like this... my exhaust exits the dryer straight down, and there is no way to tighten the clamp on the vent pipe and have it against the wall. This is the only product that will work for my application. I would gladly give 100 dollars to get this.
