Welcome to Iron Maiden ..... the best rock band in history. I seen them last year and they're as good now as they were then. Hundreds of songs react to from them. Fear of the Dark (Live in Rio) Paschendale, Number of the Beast, Revelations, The Trooper , Run to the Hills, Rime of the Ancient Mariner......you will not be dissapointed. The singer Bruce Dickinson is a pilot, fencer, writer and business man. He flies a 747 when they are on tour which holds the band, crew and equipment. Even though they've been going 40 years they still attract teenagers to their shows. Honestly react to more by them you will not regret it....keep up the good work.

They're all drinking men but far as I know they've outgrown harder stuff. Which makes sense-- they're in their sixties and drug abuse would make it hard to go on tour and put on shows the way they want to.

@@darastarscream I have been a Maiden fan since 1982. The only member I know who did do drugs was Paul. Bruce Dickinson remarked that when he joined the band that there would be none of that stuff tolerated. They do love their drams, though. They are British after all. Ever try Trooper Beer designed by Bruce Dickinson and produced in cooperation with Robinson’s brewery in Stockport UK.

@Victor Kurske You better believe he is. I've seen how his passion for flying is and that he has a healthy respect for the responsibility he has when at the controls of an airliner. My father flew as first officer and later as Captain on Boeing 727 for Eastern Air Lines during the 70's and 80's. It was great to see Bruce do a special on the 727 and get to fly it. He knew so much of the history of it.

I remember being 14 years old, living in Seoul, South Korea (my dad was in the US Army) and buying my first two heavy metal albums: Diary of a Madman by Ozzy Osbourne and The Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden. This was in 1982 & I had heard of Ozzy before, but never bought any his music prior to that time. I had no clue at that point who or what Iron Maiden was. But the album cover instantly caught my eye & I just had buy it, my decision based on the artwork alone - LOL. Needless to say, it quickly became one of my favorite metal albums. Hallowed be thy name is probably one of my top favorite songs by Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson's voice is legendary.

NJCHEESE: It's been two minutes in and we got so many sounds already! Coming from someone whose been listening to metal since the 80s, I've been taking this for granted and expected such compositions from all types of music. This is how I think music should move, else we'll just be contented with 'row, row, row your boat'. Anything else becomes boring very quickly.

Cool reaction and one of the more genuine ones I've seen. Each music genre has something great to offer, but I am biased towards Metal. Just the way it sounds and the journey it takes you on. Bands like Iron Maiden are perfect examples of amazing metal and a good entrance band into the genre, alongside other bands too. I would definitely recommend 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner' or 'Infinite Dreams' live version by them.

Your response is exactly how you are supposed to feel after this song. You should check my comment on the Lost in Vegas guys channel, when they reacted to this song and totally missed that effect because they were too concerned about inserting their "insightful" commentary, instead of just letting the song grab a hold of them. I have heard this song live many times and recorded thousands of times. Every single time I have the same reaction. Goose bumps at the start and then fatigue once it is over. Glad you were able to react yet still experience that.

Nice reaction, enjoyed that. Some context that I never see from reviewers or commenters: This song was performed at Hammersmith the night before the Number of the Beast album was released Spring 1982. So the large majority of the audience were hearing it for the first time. I saw this song played a few months later in the U.S., Maiden warming up for Judas Priest. Sounded exactly like this. Only concert I ever attended where the buzz from the crowd chatter at the end of the set was that loud and prolonged. JP got blown out of the building that night. 3 weeks later was the end of Maiden as a warm-up band.

When listening to metal...pay close attention to the lyrics...the mood of lyrics correlates to the music...like telling a story...this whole song is about a man facing execution and the emotional thoughts that he is facing...as his time is drawing towards an end...the panic...the resolve...the fight for life without being able to do nothing about it...trapped to the mercy of others....this song is all about someone saying today is the last day of the rest of your life...and giving you time to really think about it...doesn’t matter how he got there...but he is there now facing death and there is nothing he can do about it...and there is nothing that will or can save him...

The quickest way to my heart isn’t a good meal...(although it does speed up the process), but a truly appreciative, well-crafted reaction. Maiden is one of those unique bands who’s older material (like Hallowed Be Thy Name, Aces High, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, to name just three drops in a huge bucket) stands the rest of time, but who’s more recent work (post the year 2000) is - to my ears anyway- just as good, if not better. Definitely check out Aces High for more classic vintage Maiden, but also give more recent joints like Paschendale, Blood Brothers, The Longest Day, Face in The Sand, Montsegur, plus dozens more several listens each. And, they could be the best sounding live act in the world. Subbed. Keep up the great work.
