I'm a 16 harness weaver and make historic repros 1740s. I use the same pirns and shuttles with fly system..... but have NEVER spot-dyed warp pattern AND weft pattern for the same cloth! This is magnificent. AFter 53 yrs weaving I am amazed and boggled! There is SO much more to learn ))))))

Love IKAT FABRICS! I was very fortunate to visit an Ikat weaving center in Bali, Indonesia. I purchased what I could afford ( rightly expensive) and I have made a few things with the pieces, usually not more than a few meters was woven at one time. The warp and weft patterns were very complicated and beautiful. I treasure these fabrics and admire that everything was handmade with no machinery assistance. The Balinese women sat on the floor in front of their looms and operated the sheds with their feet and even the shuttles were handmade. Some of them handed down through generations. One of the newer looms was very wide and had a stool to sit on in front. The fabrics from this loom were more expensive due to size and the figurative designs in the weft..amazing skills. Thank you for this beautiful video today. I love the Japanese aesthetic so much!.❤

Brilliant! So enjoyed the making of this wonderful cloth 🙏🏻. It might be a good idea for the workers in the loom room to have ear defenders, this industry is plagued with causing hearing loss from the noise of weaving.
This is one of my favorite channels on KZbin to watch. They allow us to hear the the machines and things like that without any annoying music. Thank you and keep up the great videos

Beautiful fabrics. Fascinating weaving technology of a hundred years ago. The noise level in the workshop is mind bending and the open machinery looks extremely unsafe for workers, but that's the way it needs to be done.

Weaving IS an art form. Machines may make it easier and faster, but we've all seen people on Tou Tube weaving the old-fashioned way. It's mind-boggling someone created those machines with their many, many moving parts. It's undoubtedly very old but is still functioning perfectly. Of course, back then it was made to LAST. Thanks to the very highly skilled workers at Nomura Orimono for taking the time to make this terrific video. ❤❤❤ Watching from North Carolina, USA.

omoshiroi!

There many versions of Ikat weaving and designs for country to country. I have seen the manual weavers, magnificent craftsmanship. This is the first time I’m seeing mechanized weaving with people handling the fiber making, equally magnificent. Yup, so very expensive for this reason, it’s a laborious process manual or mechanized. Produced with love and passion for the craft and the products. Love ❤️ it!
