Excerpts from "The Way of the Warrior, part 1" (DS9s4e1), "Soldiers of the Empire" (DS9s5e21) and "Once More Unto the Breach" (DS9s7e7).
Lyrics and translations are as follows:
Klingon Drinking Song:
'ej HumtaH 'ej DechtaH 'Iw
'ej Doq SoDtaH ghoSpa' Sqral bIQtIq
'e' pa' jaj law' moch jaj puS
jaj qeylIS molar mIgh HoHchu'qu'
And the blood was ankle deep.
And the River Skral ran crimson red.
On the day above all days.
When Kahless slew evil Molor dead.
The Warrior's Anthem (sung when going to battle):
Qoy qeylIs puqloD.
Qoy puqbe'pu'.
yoHbogh matlhbogh je SuvwI'
Say'moHchu' may' 'Iw.
maSuv manong 'ej maHoHchu'.
nI'be' yInmaj 'ach wovqu'.
batlh maHeghbej 'ej yo' qIjDaq vavpu'ma' DImuv.
pa' reH maSuvtaHqu'.
mamevQo'. maSuvtaH. ma'ov.
Hear! Sons of Kahless.
Hear! Daughters too.
The blood of battle washes clean
The Warrior brave and true.
We fight, we love, and then we kill.
Our lives burn short and bright,
Then we die with honor and join our fathers in the Black Fleet where
we battle forever, battling on through the Eternal fight.
Ballad for the Dahar Master (the name I invented) has no lyrics know to me.

@@Tkhaikovski what were ds9’s flaws
@Tkhaikovski
@Tkhaikovski 3 жыл бұрын
@@MicrosoftPaintOfficial Well, I may have exaggerated that. As sci-fi and a tv show in general, DS9 is well above average. It just wasn't as much Star Trek as TOS, TNG and VOY was. Star Trek shouldn't depict warfare (although done expertly in DS9). It is all about optimistic view of the future and presenting and solving moral dilemmas while presenting solid arguments for all sides of the issue. On the other hand, DS9 was more character and story driven as opposed to more classical Star Trek approach. Plus, they didn't handle character development of Gul Dukat very well towards the end. His nervous breakdown was a very strong moment but after that all went south. The Waltz episode was a character stopper for Dukat. Following this, his whole religious fanaticism story arc felt really out of place in a Star Trek show. And Ezri Dax is a weak character. All in all, I can't say DS9 is bad. It just isn't as Star Treky as I'd wish.
@MicrosoftPaintOfficial
@MicrosoftPaintOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
@@Tkhaikovski I completely agree with all of that. The whole Dukat pagh wraith storyline was a little boring and it’s hard to believe that someone who hated the banjo rims would suddenly embrace their gods.

It's funny how you mention Orcs, because there are actually a lot of similarities and even equivalents between Star Trek races and classic races from D&D. @rcslyman8929 7 ай бұрын
Martok didn't hate him... just thought he was way overrated and had no respect for him. A Dahar Master is practically its own antithesis. A Klingon warrior reaching such old age would either be so good in battle as to rival Kahless, or was only good at avoiding true battles that would have sent an old warrior to Sto-vo-kor. Martok obviously felt the latter applicable in Kor's case. After all, "Look around you. There are no old warriors." "No sir, I'm sure they all died with honor." "Exactly. You may live long enough to learn about us."

Still, their vikings, able to head into battle blade on when its ANTIMATTERRIFLES TIME! Also they usualy raid convoy's and planets for honor , fame and dilithium. They only droped this in TNG when they where allied to the fedeartion wich sadly didnt hold out forever (See STO for answers). Thou realy if the borg threaten the alpha and beta quadrant they join forces like nothing happened XD Wich was badass. You get to the point where you have to fight the borg finaly in STO and what happens? SPECIAL FORCES COMPOSED OF KLINGONS AND FED MACO!

I was thinking Mongols with technology. The Russians are as motivated by fear as by courage, that's why they have a second wave of barrier troops to shoot the first wave if they run or try to join the enemy. The Russians also dishonour their own dead, I heard that Ukeainuan soldiers can smell rotting Russian corpses in Bakhmut because they don't bury their fallen, and Putin had the Wagner cemetaries covered in concrete and grave markers removed. There is no honour in Russia.

How does Worf know all these songs when he was raised by humans?
@benlowe1701
@benlowe1701 3 жыл бұрын
There's an episode with his human parents where they talk about how important it was to them, that he be raised Klingon, with a proper respect and appreciation for his true culture. They never wanted to raise a "Klingon Shaped Human". I'd say they did a pretty bang up job. In real life, its rather rare, but you do see it occasionally. I remember reading about a kid who was Muslim, but was later adopted by a pair of Christians. They emphasized how important it was to them, not to accidentally erase a child's culture and faith, even though they themselves didn't share it. They made sure he could still go to the local mosque, made the effort to teach him Arabic, etc. It would have been wrong to have a child you loved, and to erase the culture they were born into. Worf never talks about not feeling Klingon. Rather, he is sometimes out of place It makes his relationship with K'Ehleyr interesting, as she is Half-Klingon, who consciously dislikes her Klingon heritage, having little regard for Klingon traditions, and expressing dismay and dislike of her Klingon Half. Worf, by contrast, was raised entirely by humans, but with a firm grasp on his identity as a Klingon. There is no question that he is unklingon, and his respect and admiration for the Federation comes not from a place of indoctrination, but from having served Starfleet. His respect is earned, not owed. Its very interesting.
