I mean, I don't live in Costa Rica, but I do still live in the state with the most fungus growers in the US, which is nice.

Amazing video showing some of diverse fungus growers in Costa Rica - very jealous! As a Acromyrmex Octospinosus keeper, I didn’t know Versicolor had shorter stubby legs 😂 That’s awesome. Really enjoyed the video - thank you! How big were the workers of Apterostigma collare? They look really interesting.

Yeah, A. versicolor are really shockingly different from the tropical species. There has actually been debate in the past about putting them into their own genus, and honestly? I can see it. As for A. collare, they were the smaller of the two species featured in this video, but still at least 5mm. Glad you enjoyed the video!

I went to the Osa Peninsula on the Pacific coast. Next time I'll likely go to the Caribbean coast, as diversity is slightly different there.

@@ArthropodAntics i found a acromermex sp (I think) that was farming a fungus under leaf litter in the DR

You refer to a few ants and ant fungus gardens as primitive, what makes one species more advanced than the other in terms of their farming? Thanks for the awesome video btw!
