Is there anything that can be done for the tendons other than praying? Our rescue got a quarter horse recently with a very similar overgrown and bent back opposite hoof issue from neglect. She had got to where she couldn't barely walk at all even to get food and was underweight. They'd left her in a field and would throw hay in but she was in with cows and they were eating all the hay first. Finally a neighbor contacted my rescue and they signed the horse over to us. We were able to remodel the hoof itself and it now lays flat approx like you'd want but she won't put much weight on that foot and it's been over a month with little to no sign of improvement. She is tough as nails and will stand and eat but ability to walk is not good. I recognize that we may not be able to solve this one but I thought I'd ask if you knew any methods we could try, thank you. @@olsenequinecjf

@ken Rowell you sound like a very kind compassionate person,are you aware of the pain and suffering animals go through in factory farms and slaughter houses ? Anyone eating meat is contributing to the pain and suffering by purchasing the corpses of animals to eat,we don't need to eat meat,plants provide everything we need to survive and be healthy. Do you know how much suffering is in a glass of milk or piece of cheese. Research dairy farming ,watch new born calves being taken from their mothers,not allowed to drink their mothers milk because greedy humans want to sell it to other greedy humans, cows are very maternal and cry for days for their babies. Cows are forcibly bred every year in order to produce milk,the male babies don't produce milk so they are usually shot or sold as veal.The cow is not your mom it's not your milk. Research the chicken factory farms see how your eggs are produced, male chicks don't lay eggs so They are ground up alive ,drowned or gassed to death ,google cattle factory farms, see how pigs are being kept, most people are completely unaware of the cruelty and suffering these animals go through every minute of every day because the consumer demands it.

There’s a Chinese guy on KZbin as well who practices hoof trimming in rural China and specializes in donkeys. His tools are so different than American tools, but kind of ingenious. He doesn’t have access to X-rays or anything, but 40+ years experience trimming donkeys pays off! Unfortunately, every donkey on his channel is like this…or worse. The reason I bring him up is the xrays you took us really shows just how bad overgrowth like this messes up the animal’s entire leg, and not just the foot. I’d also love to see your opinion on the Chinese man’s practice. It’s wild watching him work on such extreme cases without the use of power tools. Also, how do donkeys’ hooves differ from horses? They seem smaller and more vertical, is that true?
@jpcheco2 жыл бұрын
Too bad he operates in a quite unsanitary environment and he he is not too prone to do a thorough job. For example he would trim fron hoofs only, leaving back ones untouced. These animals are raised by Chinese farmers for thrir meat, whichnis condidered medicinal, in extremely closed quarters among their feces an urine. That is why they have hese tined snd hoofs. Frankly, the older gentleman who trims donkey hoofs could improve his techniques by watching videos from the Americsn professionals, to say the least without becoming personal in judging his rudimentary techniques and lack of hand tools…

This man knows his stuff. I haven't seen this channel before and it's so nice when I see someone do this correctly. X-rays are mandatory with feet this bad. I have seen people just lop it off and call it good. 😭

Thank God for your help to this poor donkey. I had a foundered pony who had been neglected. My farrier was a godsend. So helpful. I’m so glad you were able to help this poor guy be able to walk pain free.

You did a great job fixing him up when he’s gone so long not getting proper hoof care. He’s lucky his current owner actually cared enough to help him get better and get proper treatment. Thank you! He is a beautiful donkey and now maybe he can enjoy life again!! ❤❤
