Phantasy Star Fan huh? Who's to say you can't use Mac OS on a non Apple device, It's far better optimised than windows that's for sure, Mac OS itself is great, you're issues stems from Apple hardware, and if anything to go by what you wrote, I feel the same. But Mac OS by en large is great, even if it's 'different',

@Steve Sherman You'll find that Mac power users are more adept at the command line and keyboard than windows users. You HAVE to know what you're doing on a Mac as in order to get proficient you'll spend more time in the command line. I'm proficient in Windows and Mac and I can tell you that for the regular consumer for both machines is about the same intelligence level... but on a Mac you'll often need to know your way around the command line. In Windows you can just click around preferences until you find what you're looking for.
@DefiantJazzEnthusiast4 жыл бұрын
Steve Sherman people like what the like. Why is that so hard for you to understand. Does an person using a Mac affect you personally? If not, why are you so pressed about it?
@andrewh.41864 жыл бұрын
@Steve Sherman My sincere apologies for my part in your terrible emotional suffering. Should Apple users be required to pay reparations to Windows users? Might as well complain about how the existence of Whole Foods drives up costs by normalizing organic food production. The fact is, some people just like a straight forward interface that isn't going to get completely overhauled with an unstable and unrecognizable replacement every random integer between 2-5 years.
@andrewh.41864 жыл бұрын
@Steve Sherman Whole Foods existed for almost 4 decades before being bought out by Amazon. I guess they were pure for 37 years, and are now completely evil. But you do forget, Microsoft got saved from being a totalitarian monopoly only because the Department of Justice stepped in and told them they had to fall back. That, and their product was getting so terrible at that point (well, after) people started looking for better options. Apple, as you correctly point out, is too small of a player to have that level of market control. Beyond that it's just "influence", but not truly monopoly except over those who prefer them (in the same way that Ford has a monopoly on people who will only drive Ford trucks).

Snazzy, you are the only youtuber out there that gives actual tips & tricks. Loved all of those videos. The hot corners tip just blew me away. Here are some of my tips from over the years: - in every file select prompt, press cmd + D to go to your Desktop. Easy for quickly navigating to that single-purpose screenshot you just made. - in Terminal, enter defaults write com.apple.dock mineffect -string suck to activate the "Suck" minimize effect. - in the Dock preferences, set "Prefer tabs when opening documents" to "Always". Work those tabs! - Spotlight sucks. Download Alfred. Set cmd+space as your Alfred shortcut. Forget about Spotlight forever. - Go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Keyboard and set a shortcut for "Move focus to the menu bar" (i like to use cmd + alt + space). This will allow you to navigate the menu bar with keystrokes, which is wayyyy faster than moving your mouse over there and going over all the menu items. Also, makes you look like a magician. - Speaking of menus, toggling alt with a menu open will show you alt-ernative shortcuts. - in Finder, when in List View, press cmd+J. This will allow you to make the icons in your list bigger, which I find to be more orderly. - you probably knew you can alt-click the green button on any window. Works on the new drop-down menu as well. Full screen sucks, we all know it. - cmd + Tab for the app switcher. Press Q while still holding down cmd to quit the selected app. Quickly quit apps you dont need. That's all I can think of right now.

2:01 - In regards to window management: you can also hold down the Option key while hovering over the maximize button. 6:40 What you can do on Windows is copy the path from the address bar of the File explorer, then paste it into the "File name" field at the bottom of the file chooser dialog. This will navigate you to that path. You can also hold down Shift while right-clicking on a file, select Copy as path, then paste that into the chooser dialog and press Enter - it will choose the file you specified as a path. In programs like Microsoft Office, you can also paste an internet URL into the file chooser dialog for a picture and it will paste the picture into the document. During this video, I noticed that macOS has lots of additional little details that are very handy for superusers, especially the one where you can hold down a modifier key for the hot corners, whereas Windows either has some relics from the past or simply nothing (modern apps don't really have any tricks aside from being able to full screen any of them with a keyboard shortcut).

- Cmd+L will become handy; - Cmd+` , Man… FINALLY a real window switcher on macOS; - Stationery pad: Never knew what it is about and now I know; - Drag file to 'Choose from file...': I always use that and it's really awesome; - Cut and paste, I use XtraFinder to gain this functionality using Cmd+X, among many other features; - Option+Cmd+Backspace] No more using the trash (useless for myself); - Good to see you using MacUpdater, such an amazing utility. The guy who gave you this tip is really nice 😄 - I always used Ctrl+Shift+Eject for locking + turning off my screen but learning Ctrl+Cmd+Q… 🤯 - And the correct Dock is in bottom AND always visible! Period! 😌 Awesome tips, as always, Master Quinn! For the next one, do a video about utility apps (1st and 3rd-party ones): OnyX, TinkerTool, hidden tricks in Disk Utility, Network Utility, Wireless Diagnostics and so on...

Shift - Option Arrow Keys for selecting text word by word used in tandem with Command A and Command Arrow keys is how power users edit text. There are lots more short cuts for text editing but thats the best goto one I use the most
