Very first song by this band. January 1969. The song that blew people’s minds when they first heard it on the radio. And the song that threw The Beatles off the top of the charts for the first time. I was in 3rd grade and the oldest child so I had not a clue about this band until years later. Now, I’m 61. They’re definitely one of the best, if not the best bands ever.

No doubt, Zeps rythm section is second to none. Shows you how confident Page was, as he wasn't threatened by having the best guys in the band and risk outshining him. He seemed to welcome it.

As a Visual artist I think it's disappointing that we know the names of all the great musicians, but almost nobody knows all the names of equally great artists who have created so many beautiful and mind blowing album cover, posters, logos, and stage designs that are an integral part of all music culture. All that artistic talent that is taken for granted and never recognized.
@TheAdventuresofTNT5 жыл бұрын
Dude, I feel the same way. I use to be a visual artist and I knew something was wrong from the beginning when I was in elementary learning about all the top artist of the world and realized that ALL of them died broke. As I got older, in Highschool I realized that artist never got credit. And finally, when I started as a freelance graphic designer, nobody wanted to pay me but everyone wanted to steal my shit. Being a visual artist is a rough game. 90% of us get the shaft and the other 10% that make it are only popular in their own respective circles. :(

And of course this song is legendary for it's doubled up bass drum, and as many know, it was all done with one bass drum peddle and one right foot, not a double bass setup. To this day for many drummers this is the test to see just how good your right foot is. I'm a life long drummer and I still can't get it down pat. There is a video of an 8 year old Chinese girl on KZbin nailing it from beginning to end on drums, including the doubled up bass again all on one foot. People will marvel at that till the end of time, that's how good John Bonham was.

I think I have mentioned this before... Please please please listen to Led Zeppelin and other classic rock with headphones. Not earbuds, not through a computer.... You need a superior sound system or some GREAT set of headphones when listening to classic rock and roll. Pink Floyd is another's must have headphones. You are missing so much. Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and Floyd's Gilmour and Waters "produced" each song on every album. The music has layers built into it that you can't possibly be picking up without headphones or a superior sound system. Honestly, out of respect for the artist you need to get yourself some headphones. You're hearing this for the first time, many of us have heard it hundreds of times correctly. We want to see you hear it correctly and appreciate what was produced for us to hear back in the day. These guys in these classic rock bands are true artists. Not many can come even close. Others such as Pink Floyd, Rush, Queen and Boston as well as many others need to be listen to with headphones. Just my two cents worth but I hope you consider thank you. I really enjoyed your reaction but you can't possibly understand how much you are really missing. Really! Keep up the great work.

i do hear a little similarity btwn the riffs ur talking about. now there is a difference btwn lifting, nicking, etc (all slang 4 plagiarism), & inspiration. this would b a case of inspiration. all music has it's influences, inspirations, etc. there is no such thing as a completely original pc of music, except 4 the very 1st song written. i'm a composer & feel i know a little more than non composers, non musicians, non professors, etc. zep is my absolute fav band, but i'm honest & know that they did nick some songs, mostly lyrics, & were sued, & rightfully so. i feel jake holmes should have gotten more credit 4 "dazed & confused", which i feel should have been designated an adaptation by jimmy. but there r songs that they get falsely accused of plagiarizing. i'm comfortable in saying that the vast majority of their music is theirs. a very original band. love ur reactions, especially to led zeppelin.

However this is song One of album one and this was the introduction to drummer John Bonham playing triplets on the snare and bass drums was practically unheard of and rare at that time. So it was special to introduce John Bonham. Also. When they did the concert in 2007 Celebration Day the first song is Good Times bad times in memory of John Bonham and the first song that Led Zeppelin started out and introduced to the world with.

"The Crunge" wasn't bad, Led Zep fans are just spoiled. A good way to see just how good these guys were is to listen to a song all the way through, but only concentrate on the bass track and then the drum track. The way they play off each other while still playing off Page's guitar is insane.
