Holy moly! This is one of the best gel printing videos I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot! Brilliant techniques. Now I know what to do with my contact paper and my leaf.

I am what they call a "fine-artist", it's amazingly creative people who inspire me these days, there are not that many, BUT YOU ARE THE REAL THiNG AND MY HERO. And you love metallics too... i will definitely (ab)use in my work the generous ideas you offer. I dream of a work session with you, although i am not worthy. THANK YOU.

Those are some gorgeous foily shiny prints! One more technique is to put foil sheets down on the plate, then stretch & wriggle the plate a bit to crackle the foil. Then add some alcohol ink over the back of the foil & some will sneak through to the front & create really pretty crackly shiny alcohol-inky goodness, that you pull as a print with a light coloured paint. It will usually leave some on the plate & the ghost prints are gorgeous too! Lol. I went looking for the artist that came up with that technique to link - and it’s you 😄 Proof that your techniques are memorable! Months to years later.

I'm mind blown for all the right reasons. Absolutely love this technique and you explain it so simply and clearly, I only got my gel plate a few days ago and playing with the basics, bluffing my way through it 😂 I bought some paints and got some glitter paints too for a bit of bling on my prints, I applied the glitter paint on my 2nd layer & let it dry then put the final coat & pulled it. Very little glitter showed but the effect of it drying reminded me of your grunge pulls video as it left a cool texture. I'm definitely going to have a play with the foiling technique as it's absolutely amazing and I love it. Thank you so much for sharing your talent 😊💚

Thank you so much! I hope you have some luck with the foiling technique. Yeah, as a 2nd layer, you may not see much of those glitter paints. The bottom layer (or the first thing applied to the plate) always shows the most. Have fun though! 💙

I still have NOT used my gel plates. LOL I love your videos! Why do you use white v. Black paint? And is that just like 80lb card stock that you make the pulls with?
@CreatedandMadeStudios Жыл бұрын
haha - you have to break them out! Using black vs white doesn't really matter, it's just aesthetics. The black paint will make the crackling in the foil stand out a bit more, that's all. I think that was 8-lb cardstock, yes. I also use some 65lb as well. Thanks so much!!

Do gilding flakes work as well? I’m thinking that the flakes would work too. Might as well try. I’m excited to try die cutting contact paper and then trying foiled gel printing technique on the die cut shape. I already make multi layer contact paper gel prints but primarily to clean the gel plate. I discovered that even after making a contact paper transfer (packing tape transfer), the contact paper remains sticky enough to remove paint from a gel plate. I add mica powder and glitter. Sometimes I stamp on the front with either Archival or StazOn ink. Combining the transfer and the foiled gel print technique could yield some interesting results or it could be a hot mess. Nothing to do but find out.

Hello! I did not have luck with gilding flakes. They just did not burnish down like the sheets. It was actually really obnoxious lol But, different brands probably react differently. But, like you said, nothing to do but find out! Adding mica powder sounds interesting, I will have to try that, thank you!
