Acrylic pouring: Fluid art
My pouring medium used for my current work is a pre mix of 70% “Mont marte clear craft glue and 30% warm water, (most pva glues can be made up with same ratios to make a pouring medium), I add my pouring medium to my paint slowly until I achieve the consistency of pouring cream, approximately 50/50 more pm if needed.
My paint brands mostly used are the Mont marte studio acrylics, dimensions, or pouring paints, Boom Gel stain.
When iv mixed my paints I add 2-4 drops maximum of Helmar silicone, also Australian made, I stir in well.
I always like to mix up my paints and add silicone the day before I’m going to paint, and cover with a damp cloth, as I have found I have much better results.
If you’d like to help me for free Please subscribe to my KZbin channel, press on notification bell and watch my videos, like, and comment and please share.

You experiments help save me a lot of paint and also to know what to buy for pouring mediums. Your humor and honesty is so very rare. Also you take the stress from me by you just being you. I have already got my Mont marte paint and waiting for the clear glue to get here and then I'm going to do my first swipe. I'm really excited to get started. I also have shared your videos to my friends and to myself so I'm sitting on ready. Thank you my friend for all you do. I really hope you read this so you will know just how much you are truly appreciated.

Can't tell you how many videos I've watched testing silicone verses none. For some reason, after watching yours, I decided to test it. I had 3 canvasses I wanted to paint over. So I did all without any silicone. I got cells like I've never gotten before! And all the new paintings came out great! Thanks for doing this. :)

I so appreciate your honesty! When you try a technique that another artist used, you always give them credit. Not all artists do that. You are so creative and have such a lovely positive attitude. I've learned so much from watching your videos! So tragic about the fires in your beautiful country. Praying for your continued safety and that the fires will soon be out.

Gilly , I love how you speak your mind on the negative Nellies. Or what did you call them negative nanas. Lol!! For some reason for several days I didn’t get notified you were doing any videos. Thought you were taking a couple of days off. Then I started having Gilly withdrawals and looked you up . Resubscribed and we are back on track . Thank you for showing your paint tray . I’ve always wondered what that was . Brilliant! Love your simple solutions to what can be big problems. Thank you so much . Great successes to you !

PS Gilly, just some history about this technique you probably already know, but what the heck here it is anyway. When artist David Alfaro Siqueiros first discovered his “accidental painting” technique in the 1930s, the simplicity of the process coupled with its elaborate results riveted him. Siqueiros simply poured different colour paints onto a wooden panel, allowing the different colours to spread, coalesce, and infiltrate one another. Black paint, for instance, tends to be less dense than white paint. Consequently, Zenit and Zetina found that pouring white paint onto black paint would lead to the desired mixing. Black on white, however, would not. One of Siqueiros's student in his experimental lab in New York was Jackson Pollock. Siqueiros was experimenting with the new paints, acrylic. Otto Röhm invented acrylic resin, which was quickly transformed into acrylic paint. As early as 1934, the first usable acrylic resin dispersion was developed by German chemical company BASF, which was patented by Rohm and Haas. The synthetic paint was first used in the 1940s, combining some of the properties of oil and watercolor.PPS: Try and find MelyD.artist she never uses silicon, however she places the paint on the canvas then moves it very fast..time lapse camera shows the cells formulating as you watch them....There is also an another artist in Canada Elysia fortu( oh I cannot spell her name, but she also does not use silicon to the best of by knowledge.

Dear Gilly, I use Mont Marte PVA craft glue 1 litre bottle. Dries clean and non-toxic. It cost me $8.00 for 1 litre, although from another store not the one I have on Mount Tamborine it could be cheaper again. Works well for me. I have no idea how much the other Mont marte cost, but this is cheap. I also have floetrol to experiment with as well...Cheers from Mount Tamborine Gold Coast Hinterland.

Glad you're getting rain btw. Did a bunch of research. Silicone is needed for cells with the pva glue pouring medium! Flotrol, etc., Gives cells without silicone...

Lololol, I so enjoy watching you! A hair dryer used can also pose the same cord problem. Seeing your cup holder the first time I got out my cup cake/muffin tins to use and there’s far less calories.
