I’m a born Jamaican and my husband is a born Punjabi Indian, our house have nuff flavor, this is similar to Saag shrimp 🍤 from Punjab, only the steam 2 types of spinach, blend it, then make a talka for the sauce, with turmeric gara Masala, geera coriander etc. delicious; try saag or saag shrimp or paneer from authentic Indians, you will love it

Growing up baghee and dasheen was 2 different things.. we called the dasheen bush, callaloo or callaloo bush and baghee was a different plant that grows similar to spinach but had to be cooked to be eaten.. from what i remember. U would make baghee and rice or curry baghee for roti/curry dishes... But nice recipe.

Chris!!! Well yes breads, ah just finish making this version of callaloo and like you, I used the spinach leaves too, and I have to say, this is one of d best callaloo I ever made man. The only thing I did different was add some coconut milk to the shrimp head and the skin when I was making the broth. Thank you very much for sharing this style of our national dish man. Well done bredda!!!!

Chris one thing I learned about cooking okra is that you could avoid the sliminess by adding salt at the very end , once the okra has mostly cooked. You will still get all the flavor but your veg mix won't be slimy early on in the cooking process.

There is a vein on both sides of the shrimp. Cannot wait to make this. May try a little strips of chicken with the shrimp.
@legallydrunk15286 жыл бұрын
E Walker For some reason when I buy de veined shrimp , they only remove the bottom vein , so he probably only needed to remove the top vein . I’ve read that the bottom vein is the digestive tract (so poop) and the top vein is the shrimps nervous system - so it can be eaten ... personally I remove both LOL
