I wonder if that light went onto the side of a big passenger carriages hooked on ? I could just visualise it there. Mind you may know and I couldn’t be completely wrong. the room looks fantastic, and Ted that bed is amazing, except for that white light switch in the middle of the bedhead. My eye keeps going to that because it is so bright. You can buy different colour light switches now. Even black would look better. I bought one of those switches that has a removable plate and because I couldn't get the right colour, I painted it a bronze colour. It blends in really well and doesn't stand out like a sore thumb.

Your new room is just gorgeous. The lamp as you may know is from a big carriage or coach that would have stopped at the relais. The bottom part unscrews to access the spring loaded candle holder. The lamp is a beauty, so glad you have repurposed it for that room.

Just starting to watch and hope I can help with your lantern. I have a pair of similar lanterns on a much smaller scale that were railway lanterns. I suspect yours is a carriage lantern. The long post on the bottom Slips into circular piece of hardware that comes out from the wall and they sit on an angle lantern forward with the bottom of the post touching the wall. This is so they can be picked up and moved around to a different carriage by the bottom. Wish I could draw you a pic! Ted’s solution is excellent as always. ❤
