Re the curtains... I recently seen a wooden board, beautifully carved/shaped and stained as a pelmit above a window. Maybe the barn could yield a nice bit of wood again and Ted could work his wonderful magic. 🥰

I like the boxed look. It matches the rest of the chateau. It could be made out of wood with some decorative touches in gold to match what you put on the fire place. So fun looking at all that furniture with you at your local Brocante. M Tucson Az

Whatever you make - a pelmet or swag - will be gorgeous as always. I love art, but never watched an artist like you. I'm grateful how you brilliantly explain your process. Us Americans are grateful for anyone out in the civilized world who doesn't curse at us these terrible days.

I work in Made to Measure dept. of a popular UK store and I have recently been to our Manufacturing centre for training. The fireplace is looking great. For the window, I think I'd go with a pelmet rather than a swag. The window looks a bit small for a swag; it might be overwhelmed.

As I understand curtains in France do not have anything on top. 🤷♀️ I actually like the candelabra pair, just as is, no bling needed, especially if they are made of pewter. Not too modern at all! With tall candles they’d be taller.
@auntytutu5 күн бұрын
I agree...the gilding turned out nicely - the gold leaf would have been too much! Sadly - half the US is likely looking for another country to move too, and the other half...well there is nothing you can really say about them, just shake your head and shrug because they are incomprehensible.

@Hiris-hu5pc6 күн бұрын
Nice job on the stove Lesa! I think swags are too Renaissance, and think boxes or even just a plain rod with curtains would be more Medieval. But of course your chateau survived both those periods, so whatever you decide will be fine!
@annettesharrock12365 күн бұрын
To ne truthful I dont think you need anything on the curtains Lesa keep it simple. That chaise longue would have been ideal in that room and would have matched all the decor colours you have 😘

I think box or swag would look good on the window. It’s a difficult choice as keeping the box design would keep the consistency of design throughout the apartments, but swag would give you an opportunity to learn a new skill.
@ChateauDeMontmagner5 күн бұрын
I totally agree!
@littled70325 күн бұрын
I think swag would be better. It wouldn’t look a little little bit more feminine instead of the box but I think it would have to do a lot with the fabric, the look of the fabric the pattern
@susannejohnson69046 күн бұрын
Sara from Manor and Maker would love the sewing machine. Can you show what the curtains look like? Or did i miss that part?
@charlotter.morrill65034 күн бұрын
Windows - no draping. Do your regular thing. You are going to have enough complicated stuff in the room and it will not need more. Great as it will be without swaggering.
@rogerhance20575 күн бұрын
Could do a swag or valance
@smgreenartsprivate6 күн бұрын
I would have just a carved curtain rail made or bought with ornate closures no pelmet do something easier and less work and simply the room let the rest of it show it's beauty. Maybe a stencil design on the beams the part facing down so when you look up you can see a slight design have seen it at older properties is lovely.
