I have a fancy Tornador, but it is so awkward that I use compressed air most of the time. I blow out under the seats before vacuuming, then do just what you demonstrated. I'm even older than you, so I'm glad you are teaching the new generation our old-timers tricks :-)

D.K. That will certainly improve the situation and may be enough. I find that the compressed air gets down into the base of carpet to remove additional grime, taking it up a notch especially on light-colored carpets.

I love your videos, this one on the carpet is umm,,????? When I saw you blowing I could see residue going all over. Is this how you still do it? Or do you extract now ? I do detailing. But not on your level. I just prefer extraction I guess. If you still do it that way and are going to detail inside of a car are you starting with the carpets and seats first? Thanks for all your videos.

I've owned probably 30 cars in my lifetime. I recently bought a used pickup that is okay condition but the carpet (especially on the drivers front) was just flat filthy. Salt stains, dirt, etc.. I cannot stand a filthy interior and bought some nice CoverCraft seat covers but the truck is really not worth spending the money on replacing the carpet which from Toyota is not cheap and the alternatives are lacking. Scott, I have to say the technique you outlined here is the best idea I have seen since sliced bread. I did it tonight as you outlined and the difference is night and day. I never in a million years would have thought my air compressor would be a useful detailing tool but man it sure is. Thank You for this video. It's worth it's weight in gold and you are correct - the crap that came out of the carpet onto the Micro Fiber towel was pretty astounding.

I don't understand what's so great about blowing dirt around using compressed air and a cloth to catch the dirt. Why not just use a wet/dry shop vac to suck up the dirty residue. Sometimes old tips are overrated.

Thanks, I drive trucks and about 1 third of drivers has a air tool hooked up to their air ride seats. Scott your demo and monologue is why Thomas Jefferson never patented his inventions. He believed other people will build on his inventions and therefore society would be better off. Think of the Franklin stove which was never patented. And this is the reason why I like the KZbin channel.

I tried the superclean dillution to do the carpets. I agitated it with brush and rewet a little like you did. But I have terrible browning. Once the carpet dries, it turns brown and kinda crusty eventhough it looked clean immediately after I cleaned it. What am I doing wrong??
@clintmcjeepjunkie820
@clintmcjeepjunkie820 6 жыл бұрын
deemechanic1 lightly Mist the carpets again and rewipe. The residual dirt is wicking up to the carpet fibers. Ever so slightly Mist it like I said and wipe again to remove the Stain. Spraying too heavily we'll just continue the problem

The quality of vehicles these days is shit. Cheap fuzzy carpet, thin paint, thin leather, fabric that frays if you look at it, dash boards that melt. Been detailing as long as you have and you have to admit that our job has become twice as difficult with newer cars. Cheap junk at a high price.

I been grabbing 2 cans of dollar general carpet cleaner for the past 10 years. I will spray the front and back down with one can. Take a scrub brush lightly work it in and in about a half hour vacuum it out at the car wash. I can assure you in the morning your carpets will smell and look brand spanking new. The extra can is for the next time you need to do it. I been using that stuff for a very long time. It's completely harmless to me and the environment and will make 40.00-50 bucks on just the interior of a cars floor. great video though

Is this method better than using a wet & dry vac to simply suck up the muck?
@cup_and_cone
@cup_and_cone 7 жыл бұрын
Greg Sullivan - That's what I do. AP + bristle brush like first half to agitate and lift, then use a shop vac instead of compressed air. Scrubbing with a brush is more aggressive than a 100PSI blast of air, and I don't think blowing drops and particles of who knows what onto everything else is worth it. But what I think what the compressed air does best is unflatten the carpet, by standing the carpet fibers up and straightening them as if it were new, which adds another dimension to the looks.
@letlive8014
@letlive8014 6 жыл бұрын
I have to agree. The flattening of the fibers is also something that has to be dealt with to 'truly restore' the original look of the carpet. Thanks
