I tried this formula on the house carpet especially the stairs, man it did the job very well and it smelled really fresh! I used a dollar store sprayer to apply the formula, a carpet brush, and a shop vac to complete the task. OMG! I just found your video but let me tell you that I have a house with 13 years worth of stains and dirt. I went out and bought everything today to make the solution and tried it on one section of the living room. This solution is amazing. I did not even pretreat. I put it in my bissell proheat 2x and washed the carpet in that section. I have not seen this carpet that bright in years! I am so excited because I was actually fearful that I would have to go out and buy new carpeting. I do not have that fear anymore and will finish the rest of the carpeting this week. All I'd do differently is try to suck up as much of the soap as possible before putting rinse water on the carpet. It will make the rinsing less of a job. Also, use white vinegar in the last rinse, when the rinse water starts looking pretty clean. It will get all the soap out. The smell doesn't last. I do this when I shampoo my carpets.

I tried this on my living room carpet this last February. I had bought a good steam cleaner and the solutions that they recommended (and others) weren't cutting it. So I scaled the solution down a bit to add to a spray bottle and sprayed it on the carpet after vacuuming. Then I used a brand new push broom to work it into the carpet fibers, added a little of the solution to the steam cleaner with water, and steam cleaned the carpet. I did go over the carpet with just water again and tried to get most of the water out. I'll be honest....it did take some time as it does when you steam clean. But it was hands down the best cleaning solution EVER for my carpet. They have never looked that good! I'm getting ready to do it again as I have pets. Thank you SO much for sharing your cleaning solution! It works!

That's pretty cheap even though it sounds abused. But I bet it'll be a good runner if the body is in good condition. Transmission might be the one weak point to watch out for. Not sure if you have the V6, but in my opinion it's the better engine. However for the V6 you'll want to replace the LIM gasket with an all-metal one if it hasn't been done yet, and the MAF sensor can make the car sluggish while not throwing codes. (LIM is a tear down job, but MAF is easy & relatively cheap to deal with.) Have a Grand Am in my case, but it shares much of the powertrain/chassis. Hopefully those tips will help out.

I hauled several bags of wet leaves to the landfill in the back of my SUV. I didn't realize how wet they were and one of them leaked disgusting brown leaf brew all over the back upholstery. The dark brown stains were terrible. I tried a normal hot water scrub vac and that did nothing. Just found this video and today I mixed up the concoction and followed the steps. I have been doing this EXACT same method since 1996. ALL my friends thought I was crazy for soaking the carpet. Great Video you just received a new subscriber ♥ I just bought a repo (04 Durango) that has beyond awful stinky, filthy carpet so I'm going to go to the extreme this time. I'm removing all the seats, center console & whatever else needs to be removed to take the entire piece of carpet out. Lay it in my driveway, spray on my very own cleaning concoction using a gallon pump sprayer. Let sit for a couple hours, scrub it with a brush, then spray with the hose to rinse. If that doesn't do the trick nothing will.

I did this to a used car I just bought. The carpet was dirty in some areas but not too bad. My biggest reason for doing it was the car came with a smoke odor, so I'm trying to clean as much of the car as I can. I had bad odors that I thought were coming from the carpet but we're coming from the condensor. I removed cabin filter, Turned on the a.c and sprayed some Lysol through the vents that are beneath the outside of the windshield. Odor is gone.

Great recipe and technique shown. On the third lap, I'm still getting brown suds from the driver side footwell, which makes me think the car has never been cleaned. For seats, I removed them and used the mist setting on the sprayer...lots of dark water collected. I made 2 batches so far, it cost me pennies, and works far better than other more costly products.

I tried your concoction on my 1999 Suburban. All I can say is, wow ! The amount of dirt that came out was amazing. The real bad stains lightened up a lot. Thanks for a great video. Oh, by the way, I did the paint and lacquer thinner thing on the leather seats. I didn't get the results you did. Different leather and degrees of wear. It did make a noticable difference. I'm going to do the Rit dye on the carpet. I'm sure that will work great also.

The procedure is great! I'd add one more step as an option. Hook the garden hose up to the the hot side faucet for the washer so you can use hot water in the process. ( Of course you'd have to temporarily disconnect the Laundry washer hose ). Not that this extra step is necessary. It just would likely make the process easier and quicker. I'd probably also include one of those garden hose attachments where you can select several spray patterns. That way you could get a higher pressure wash. Oh, and if you come across stubborn stains that did not come clean, here's a tip to step it up a notch. Just fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil on the stove. Then take a smaller pot/pan to scoop out the boiling water and pour in on the stains, Then scrub immediately with a brush. BTW I've done Carpet Cleaning as a sideline for 20 years so I just wanted to throw in a little tip of mine.

I love when videos randomly pop up! My mom's bedroom carpets are soooo bad from having multiple dogs and we were debating pulling up the rugs. I'm definitely going to try this later when she goes out. Ironically, we have all of these ingredients and I have a Bissell rug machine. I'll do exactly what you did, but then use the rug machine with just hot water (at least that's what I got out of the comments). Thanks so much for the video!

This stuff works amazing. I just acquired an all original 1965 Thunderbird Landau. The carpet in it has seen 55 years of muck. It was stained with oil, rust spots, life. I didn't want to use just any cleaners from the stores and risk damaging the carpet. I did the first pass last night and this morning they are so much nicer. Im probably going to have to do two more cleanings before its 100. Thank you so much for posting this

Nice! I did the Dutch version of this yesterday😉. As in. The oxi cleaner isn't sold here. Replaced it with a cheap knock of. Overdid it a bit with the dishwasher first try😅. But. I used it on the carpet mats from my '79 Volvo 240 wagon. Spread them out outside and went to work on them. And holy cow👌. I rinsed them out with a garden hose instead of the water vacuum cleaner. It broke after 1 minute so I had to improvise😂. In the end this worked wonders and the carpet is as new. Good for another 40 years👌👌.

Once the front seats are removed, the carpet comes right out. It can be pulled out from under the trim, then tucked back in. I used a pressure washer.

We have done this for so many years I can’t even think back when we started doing it we have never had any of those issues you mentioned this works perfect every time of course this is not a job you do in the winter time when you can’t have your doors or windows open for a few hours or set a fan in front of it like professional carpet cleaners do when you have your carpets cleaned in your house. I've never had any mold or mildew scent after doing this depth of carpet washing either. The key is vacuum vacuum vacuum & more vacuum. Best if done on warm to hot sunny days also.

There are only a few vehicles that can tolerate flooding the carpet like that. Jeep Wrangler or Toyota Tacoma for example. If you get the padding THAT wet on most passenger cars it will not dry with a simple wet/dry vac. The carpet must be lifted or propped up at the outer edge ,and a fan blowing on it for minimum 12hrs.

we have done this on hundreds of customers vehicles from Yukon Denali's to ford focus's with never an issue..of course, you have to use common sense, you dont do it in the winter and when it's going to rain for 2 days...but we have not had one not dry out in a day in 80 degree weather with a fan on it.

I'll take your word for it. Maybe one of your ingredients fights the mildew long enough for it to dry without the "hot day sour stench from hell" Im so very familiar with. I've owned a body shop for 18 years, and a soaking wet carpet mat has always been trouble. Takes weeks to dry completely on its own. Im not a closed minded person though. Im gonna try your concoction, and method on my old work truck.

I'm also under the impression this video wasn't done in Florida with 80% humidity. Nothing here dries that fast. I don't dare put this much water in my vehicle. When it downpours (monsoon season -daily/weekly/monthly) I track in enough rain water that the windows fog up from dampness for days before drying.

oh we use this mixture on all of the fabcic seats and talk about clean...of course you don't use the hose on the seat you use a spray bottle and mist it while you vacuum...thanks croc..

He is using a Shop Vac which you can use to suck up water. Your household vacuum won't do it and will probably be ruined. A comment above said she used a rental carpet cleaner machine using this formula instead of what you get with the machine.
