What an ideal location for a German defensive set up. You sure had to climb up a lot of stairs to make your destination HH. The 38cm Bismarck Cannon Mount was humongous. What a sight to see. Trying to envision 50-60 German soldiers running around and doing their part in keeping that war machine operational. Thank you for showing us a pic of what the cannon would look like. Very efficient set up for the ammo trains and track systems. Can only imagine how much time it took to design and manufacture that hi-tech equipment. Again thank you for the pic of the ammo trains. It helps put things into perspective. The Regelbau was something to see at that location also. Sure was a lot to see there. I bet you would have wanted to stay longer. Thanks for taking us along HH.

Great history, all that concrete and the amount of labour spent to build those fortifications. Without air cover and or flak, that big gun was a sitting duck for the bombers. Great video, thanks for the adventure...................
@WW2HistoryHunter8 жыл бұрын
The guns did have huge Camo Shield when in operational condition. Thanks for taking time to watch.
@svenjanus43688 жыл бұрын
A sitting duck that's it, these fat guns never fought an enemy! But don"t worry to protect these four guns they biuld over 600 bunkers in the area, among other things four heavy naval AA Batteries with 4x105mm half automatic guns and in Aalborg was a huge airbase. The problem with these guns was, that they stood in open emplacements and the gun turrets had only a thickness of 2 inch too less to resist heavy artillery fire or an air raid. So they covered the area under camoflagenets and created fake batteries.

Sad to see these pieces of history being deteriorated by the sea salt, weather and time. I wonder what the Allie’s soldiers thought when they first saw a location like this. The German soldiers must have thought they were invincible here. What a beautiful location to have weapons of war. To much to see. Nice video.

Near where I live we have a WW2 sea defence gun placement, and to this day it still does large caliber firing and testing out to sea, you can hear and feel the BOOM 10 miles away, so god only knows the noise and feeling that big German gun must of given off!

Very good video tour. It amazes me that the Germans had so much time to build these elaborate bunker systems all over Europe. The time and labor not to mention where did they get all the raw materials for concrete etc.
@RaoulThomas0078 жыл бұрын
The used concrete extensively, so there is a good story there. Was it because they really believed in the Thousand Year Reich?
