If a zoo animal tries to escape several times, he should not be kept in zoos anymore. He should be released in the wild after some rehabilitation time.

Yeah. I get wanting to keep them safe until their numbers rise high enough to where they're in the 50k+ (Which I think is still small) so they're not in danger of extinction, but making them suffer for human entertainment should be considered a crime. I have a good idea. For circus owners with mistreated animals in their circus, they should be imprisoned for however long they've had the animals imprisoned. If it's less than 6 months, give them 6 months of jail time anyways. Let the animals go. Please.

Yep. Try putting a human in a cage, feeding it once a day, and showing it off to obnoxious animals and see if it's happy. "Oh but animals don't have emotions!" If you think that animals are incapable of feeling emotions... I'm disappointed.

Used to work at a zoo, I've remember 3 different escaped. #1. One of our alligators had gone missing from the exhibit and was found down in the rhino pool. #2. We had an Egret somehow escape the entire zoo and took several days to capture it from a nearby woodsy neighborhood. #3. One of our wallabies had escaped their free roaming area, chased down the hill and unfortunately out the front gate. Was apprehended shortly after (#4 would have happened when I was way young so I dont recall if it ever made news. But we apparently had an otter escape after their new exhibit was finish, and it was never found)

When I was younger, my family and I were at a local petting zoo. They had animals like cows, pigs, donkeys, horses, and goats, etc. This particular day, one of they bigger goats got out of its cage while kids were getting in. It knocked the kids over and was running around this small zoo. My dad was able to grab it, since it was wearing a collar.

While I do feel more safe at the zoo, the safari tour guides and drivers have weapons to subdue the animals if need be. But whether at a zoo or a safari, there is always a chance to be mauled by a wild animal... Even being at your home out in the yard, there is a chance, depending on where you live!

The same thing happened at Zoo America at Hershey PA. If they had closed the zoo and moved the animals NONE would have died. They knew for 3 days the storm was coming but they stayed open even ON the day of the massive flooding. Many animals drowned. Two bison were trapped in their concrete surrounded enclosure with NO drains. They were treading water for 2 hours when the female became so tired she gave up and drowned. A rush of water came and washed the male out of the enclosure and there was a fence there and zoo workers shot him. It was awful.

The Wildebeest (A type of bull): The wildebeest, also called the gnu, is an antelope in the genus Connochaetes native to Eastern and Southern Africa. It belongs to the family Bovidae, which includes antelopes, cattle, goats, sheep, and other even-toed horned ungulates. Connochaetes includes two species, both native to Africa: the black wildebeest or white-tailed gnu, and the blue wildebeest or brindled gnu.

As a kid, I enjoyed going to Chessington Zoo (now known as Chessington World of Adventures & Zoo, UK) with my family. Now though to me, zoos in general, don't seem right unless they are doing conservation work and are actively helping animals and endangered species. As for animal circuses, they should be banned out-right. Wild animals belong in the wilds; not in the city! :)

@@rachelmartin3631 you missed my point, they just took a random stock photo not caring what was in it and stuck it here, only a dealer would have that many Hummers together in a parking lot😁

@@mirthenary 😂😂 maybe it's an overflow lot where the dealer keeps stock! No way would they be that clean if they belonged to a zoo and that poorly animated, photoshopped, walking giraffe just wandering in front of them, dwarfing them the way it does definitely doesn't lend to their believability! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Ken Allen (A bornean orangutan): Ken Allen was a Bornean orangutan at the San Diego Zoo. He became one of the most popular animals in the history of the zoo because of his many successful escapes from his enclosures. He was nicknamed "the Hairy Houdini".

The reason why a bunch of them probably escaped was because they weren’t mentally stimulated enough. So the animals used their time to escape.

I feel like its because a wolf, at least to me, is harder to recognize compared to the other animals on the list. I would most likely think it was a stray dog. So I feel like others may have thought that as well and therefore they did not get many calls about the wolf. I do know it said they heard people call about a "coyote" which they think was most likely the wolf, but I'm wondering if no one investigated the calls, ya know...

Not a zoo escape; but my parents lived in rural Kentucky and kept bison on their land for a local Native American group. My father accidentally left the gate not fully latched. The bison escaped and caused quite a stir in the local population of 1,000. When I went into town to become their executor, several people asked me if I was aware of the “escape”. It would seem that 8 years wasn’t long enough for it to fade from local memory.🤣🤣
