Collar stand and collar as a single piece, who knew? I would still use separate interfacing, one stand and one collar with a small gap. That way when I fold the collar over and press, the fold is pure fabric and will be very crisp. Wonderful video. Thank you.

I’ve been making shirts for my son doing the stand and collar. This is a great technique. He’s asked for a white shirt to wear with his suit so I’ll use the same method as before but so many things to improve those curves. For myself I’ll try that on my next blouse. Thank you.

Hi, Karina, another great collar video! The all in one collar on the aria looks wonderful to try and I can’t wait for it to be released. Thank you also for showing how you block fuse, I’ve always wasted a lot of fabric and interfacing in my attempts to date. Good morning, Carina, great tutorial. I made the mockup for the Aria and it fits perfectly with the exception that I have a small gap at the bust area, about 1/4 of an inch. Would you share your recommendation to address this without altering the rest of the shirt fit?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles Жыл бұрын
Did you put a button at the bust height? If not, I’d try that and if you need to add 1/4”, you’d just need a scant 1/8” extra on the side seam at the bust height. You can add that at the side seam and then taper in to the regular line at the waist.
@sandiperry3753
@sandiperry3753 Жыл бұрын
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Thank you for your prompt response. I decreased the side seam allowances from 3/8 to 1/4 and that worked perfectly, even giving me a little extra at the waist and hips.

Thank you for taking me by the hand and walking me back to the sewing machine. I nearly didn’t watch this or the banded collar video. I’ve been avoiding shirt/coat patterns. My collars end up lumpy and wrinkly. Excellent tips, like the one about cutting on the fold (banded collar and method #3 for no lumps) and it ends up too long. I could never figure out why and the those two lumps at the front of the collar band never looked neat.

@@bandr2783 I block fuse. I fuse a piece of fabric first and then place the pattern piece and cut it out. I’m not easing anything anywhere. These are woven projects, I would not use stretch interfacing here.

Hi Karina, I’m new to sewing and have learned so much from you. You’re an excellent teacher! I recently purchased the Love Notions Aria pattern and course. I’ve made a muslin with cotton poplin to practice and it turned out pretty good for a beginner (I don’t expect perfection of myself at this stage)…lol The only part of the pattern I found a bit confusing is the line on the collar piece to line up with the placket. It seems to leave a larger than 3/8 inch overhang if I align it with the edge of the button placket? Can you shed any light on this for me?
