Amazon Alexa Echo recorded conversation and then sent to contact

A woman in Portland, Oregon, says her Amazon Echo secretly recorded her conversation and sent the recording to a contact on her husband's phone. Amazon said it was the result of an "unlikely" series of events.

I once told a friend how in some parts of Germany it still happens on a regular basis that WW II bombs are found in the ground during construction work etc. Later that evening I had a documentary about WW II bombs in my youtube recommendations. It’s too niche to be a coincidence. I never watch or search for war / bomb stuff or anything like that; 90% of my history are cat videos!

No joking,a short while ago I was having a conversation with my son in law and mentioned a TV programme from 50 years ago that he had never heard of and an hour later I was going through "you tube " and the first offering was a full episode of the aforementioned programme. We do not have an Alexa or anything like it in the house.

Amazon - "This was an extremely rare occurrence." Translation; "That wasn't supposed to happen. Alexa was supposed to send those recordings to the NSA... not your associate in Seattle. We'll make sure it's corrected to make sure no more further suspicions are to arise from the public."

What gets me is that people think that these devices that they pay to bring into their homes aren't recording their every move.
