Yes! You can go to GS1 to buy a UPC. That goes into the listing. Then you label your product with the FNSKU. That is what Amazon uses to track it through the warehouse and you as a seller so you can get paid.

Thanks for making this video. I do have a question. I am using Ali express for my products, I sell on Shopify. I do not have ANY UPCs or Barcodes. I am running into to walls trying to get amazon to approve without UPCs and they denied me. Should I invest in a GS1? I am afraid of losing a couple thousand by doing so.

Hello, If a third party is selling barcode numbers, they should have already been registered to a company in Gs1’s Gepir Database. It will not be possible to have your company’s information reflected in that system unless (under that barcode) you were to purchase the original company. This is not an issue for most companies worldwide. Hope this helps!

Just one confirmation I need; my understanding there will be only one bar code on the product ready for shipment to Amazon warehouse and that is FNSKU, and that is the reason Amazon is asking to cover any manufacturer barcode on the product. Hi Emilija, I actually looked at this video when purchasing barcodes too. I received the same error message and i contacted Amazon. In short, Amazon requires you to get a barcode with a company prefix. Meaning you will have to get the 1-10 package if you want a barcode. The video must be wrong/outdated.

Lets say that I bought a product from one manufacturing company but I got a better deal from a different manufacturing company on the same product, can I use the same UPC CODE on the new product? Please advice and also can you explain the processes of the UPC on how I goes, for example, I buy the UPC what's the next step? How Does GS1 is going to know our product or how is going to appear on the UPC data base, I'm guessing that that UPC is going to be unique for that specific product right, what about If I decide no to sale that product anymore? Thank you! If the same product essentially, you can use the same UPC. Should be able to change the brand and product on GS1 if you switch it out, would have to double check with Gs1 though

Asking your advice I have two separate companies, two separate selling accounts and planning to start brand registry accelerator for each separately. Do you recommend to purchase two separate GS1 accounts for each brand? GS1 allows you to enter a brand in the box when creating a GS1 UPC and thinking I can differentiate the brands when creating the barcode to work for brand registry? The one you showed on the book is not called UPC, it's the ISBN. Both are part of what we call GTIN's. All GTIN's are UPC, ISBN, EAN and JAN. Essentially, they're all the same but term-wise, they're different. ISBN is for books. More power :)
