Yep you're all right about the steel they call it Nitrox it's their own steel. It's also used on the CAC the folder of French army. On french knives design what I like from TB or Wildsteer it's that they are designing knives made to be used. True I'm biased because I'm French but really it's just made to be used and never scared to use it. Look the long life of the Opinel.
