I'm old enough to remember private practices. I paid $20 for a visit. Medication wasn't overly priced. Bloodwork, xrays, etc. was reimbursed by filing my bill. Now it's so complicated.

I could be wrong, but when physicians open their own business/hospital, it would be a private practice. The government severely limits these capabilities and take away the power from physicians as you can see from laws like Stark Law. It is getting harder and harder for physicians to open private practices. Opening more private practices promotes more competition and drives the price down. Currently, the big hospitals are run by MBAs and insurance companies. I don’t necessarily see how Amazon diving into a healthcare sector is going to be different from the current trend. In my opinion, to truly fix expensive healthcare, I believe in giving power to physicians instead of allowing big companies like Amazon. We already are seeing what MBAs do to our system.

I love One Medical and not a fan of Amazon. The bigger it gets, the worse the human side of its individual pieces seem to get. Also, do not want them to have any more data points to use on or against me. This sucks.

Left one medical because they seem to have a cray turnover with their doctors. I was with one medical for about 4 years and rarely was able to see the same doctor twice in a row. Not to mention the location of the office changed 3 times in 4 years. Sounds like the perfect Amazon fit, high economic efficiency with complete disregard for the well-being of employees and the quality of their service.

@@AB-zt1fe Physicians like to think of medicine as a noble profession where the object is to help people and one that stands apart from normal commerce. I also don’t think most doctors would appreciate being bossed around by the aggressive MBA types that Amazon is know for.

Innovation in healthcare is needed big time. There are so many things wrong with the healthcare systems it’s insane. So unreasonably complicated, for what? Overpriced (making tons of money) yet a major shortage in doctors, nurses, pharmacy techs. Something is majorly wrong and innovation in certain areas will dramatically lower typical heathcare costs.

Look at so many negative reviews for One Medical on Yelp, I don’t have high hope for it getting any better after the Amazon buyout. It will be like the medical version of Amazon Home service, which was not a good experience. Even worse, medial will affect human life, it will have more serious consequences than buying fake product, or getting a lousy cleaning lady.

Honestly, this would be great if it was an all in one solution like if they offered health insurance, life insurance, dental, vision, fsa and hsa accounts under one account or even better better just one fee one just one single fee for every thing a full package like 100 a month and it covers absolutely everything all in one no need for insurance or anything but all this is, is just an extra way to get medical care basically extra that's it unfortunately most health insurance already offer this and a app and all this so this is basically pointless if i could pay 100 a month and nothing extra for 5+ visits a month i would get this day one!! And the city can pay the fee for people that can't cover this i feel the first company do this would completely destroy the competition and all insurance companies as a all in one full solution one fee a month for any care and nothing else period game changer and maybe this is where amazon will go like amazon prime but probably not for another few year so il just wait until then i would leave my insurance and everything for this if they had an all in one solution period.
