like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, kzbin.infoUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

This is a great video! Although at certain points when you asked your Alexa to do something, my poor Alexa Show did or tried to do the same thing. 😅 I had to keep turning the volume down to tell her it was okay or to stop! Then I just turned her microphone button off so she wouldn’t keep getting confused. It’s been years but I hope you had wonderful holidays, and that you have and will continue to do so. These videos are so oddly comforting, and I dug this up when I fade a friend a new Echo Dot 3 (they’re still great!) and she wanted to know how to set it up, etc. Thanks for helping my friend! And many others, I’m sure. :)

Thanks for a great review Chris. I just ordered the Amazon dot 3 from eBay for $29. My first one. I bought 2 smart plugs a few months ago. Now I can see how this all works. I had a Sprint lg Q8 thin, with Alexa, but had no clue that I needed to download the Alexa app. Obviously why I couldn't connect with my smart plugs. My dot 3 will arrive on 8/2/19. i got one as a gift but the installing i understand but how do you use it with your devices, do you need to own amazon smart plugs then connect your devices there or does you devices need to be smart wifi and also have amazon smart plugs as well ? you only showed what it does but not explained how to make it do it before you are able to talk to it and setup other devices.

We bought smart plugs and smart light bulbs. I say alexa turn on the lights and says "ok" but lights remain off lol. repeat and it works. Thats prob why. This thing is hit n miss imo
