Amazon Echo Show - Update On The Show And Tell Skill For The Blind And Visually Impaired

Here's an updated video on the Amazon Echo Show's Show and Tell skill. This skill is excellent for anyone with low vision problems or who is blind. Now, I will tell you it's not perfect (as you can see in this video) but this is just the first version of this skill. I am sure that this will become more refined and accurate in the coming months.

Hi Sunny Bee, the Echo Show in our video is a 2nd generation, but this skill should work the same way for the 5. Just hold up the item and ask Alexa to identify it. Good luck! :)

Echo show asked the question what am I holding, it did not say anything or make a sound where would I download the app to make this feature work yeah I meant to say I purchase the echo show

If I'm understanding you correctly your Echo Show asked YOU what you are holding? The way it works for me is that I ask the Echo Show "Alexa, what am I holding?" The Echo show responds with "Let's See" and then it's camera turns on and I can see myself and the product on the screen. Sometimes it asks me to "show another side" but not always. Anyway - then it starts dinging and it tells me what the product is (hopefully - it's still not 100% but pretty close) There isn't really an app or anything to install - the skill should just automatically work. Do you have to download an app to the echo show for this to work or can I make it work like this practically out of the box so to speak

To use any of the Amazon devices you need to install the app onto your smartphone. One app will control any number of devices. The app allows you to set it up and of course to control it remotely. Otherwise, it's pretty much a plug-n-play type of set up - very easy. But yes, you do need the app for the Echo Show and for all the other Alexa devices.

I am in the UK and can't make my Echo Show 5 work to see products. Is this because it is a US only feature?
