Is there any chance the motor could be slightly out of time, this can cause the engine to misfire, and flood due to a bad fuel burn.

No Sir. It runs outstanding on the original carb. However, the original carb can't be trusted to seal the fuel flow. It has had 3 seats with new o-rings, just the 0-ring a couple of times, 4 different floats which I couldn't a thing wrong with them. 5 different needles. I did a vacuum test of the needle and seat, finding with each of them there is a leak around the seat, not the needle. However, even with it flooding fuel out onto the bike, it will raise the front rubber in any gear. My kinda bike. However, as hard as it runs, I wouldn't allow someone to ride it with fuel running out of it. As much will run into the engine as out of the overflow so no bueno. I have gotten the new carb better but it isn't there yet. I have been very ill, but I did find some larger mains to which I will install one of these days as I put the largest main I could find out of original jets (178) and it helped. I now have up to a 195. I'm considering going to the 195, go for broke, raise the needle to the 6th position and make it black the plug then back it down as long as it will do the higher rpm. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching. Max

The first thing come to mind does it have a strong spark if not the coil maybe weak, I’m not there you see it first hand and I know you are good at diagnosing it . Something of that problem can be a pain to fix. I known you can fix it Max.

It is strange that the out of gas thing for a few seconds, then die, pull in clutch, let out the clutch to let it get more gas it fires but won't pull itself is a real pain. Fire is strong enough to bring down a Bull Elephant on a rampage. The fine line of getting it to start between too lean and too rich is resolved which usually also covers the amount of fuel during running under load. Not these two aftermarket carbs. If it weren't for all the health problems I'm going through with the lungs making it difficult to get outside I think I'd have less problem getting this diagnosed and something figured out. Thanks my friend. I always appreciate your input Sir. Max

Those amazon/ebay china clone carbs for anything go into the 100% american trash can. Its like russian roulette with 5 of the 6 loaded. You might just get lucky.

Agree with one exception, when you get the one that delivers, this bike delivers a much more crisp 'hammer time' than with the Keihin. New Keihin is worth more than the bike so it isn't an option to just turn around to let it go and lose 950 on the new carb. The one that's on it now kicks butt. Can actually start it both cold and hot with two kicks. My four Keihins would take half hour cold and impossible to restart hot. Jetting was all over the place on them as in the Chinese. If I could fit a Holley single throat carb on it, all those Japanese built in problems would be resolved. I can say this last Chinese carb does require a much larger main jet and the needle raised to #5 groove. After putting in the 185 jet, raising the needle front comes up in 4th and 5th quite nicely. Thanks for watching.

Did you ever figure out the issue? I'm having a pretty similar issue.

Bo, I've been deathly ill so it has been sitting up on the tall sissor stand looking pretty without any further changes. I did purchase every jet size from 172 which is what the original Keihin loved to 195. My intention is to keep going up until I get his sucker to run the way it should. Its a wheel stander when it has plenty of fuel to rev under load. If it weren't for the original carb flooding no matter what myself or anyone else has done and tried I'd have it back on the engine as it loved that carb. Carb just didn't love us. I'll let everyone know what it took to get the Chinese carbs to play right when that happens depending upon the cancer surgery and recovery.

@@MaxsGarajMahal Sorry to hear about your cancer. I hope it all goes well and you get that bike running and able to ride it yourself!

@@bobleishman7215 I will get it running right before I let it off the yard so it can find a good home. Best of luck with yours.
