Thanks for helping stimulate our economy! After viewing this video, it's clear that StewMac sells quality tools for professionals who make a living at working on guitars while Amazon tools are dedicated for the novice who perodically works on them. Thanks for posting!

I have the same thing going on. About half of my tools come from Amazon and the other half from Stewmac. You and I both bought the same fret crowning file. It works OK on a high fret that needs to be knocked down.

Just got the same kit off ebay for $20. The winder came in handy as I've been using one I made myself and it had seen better days. The string polisher is cool as well as the fret guards. I've also used the nut files, fret rocker, and radius gauges so for $20 it was a good deal. The diamond files are kinda cheesy, but with the fret clippers and acoustic pegs, it was a hell of a deal.

I got the same kit, but it came with the fret rocker as well. If you're just occasionally hobby fixing and adjusting it works fine. If you're going to do more serious work, you can always swap out for quality stuff later.

I have a mix of StewMac and Amazon tools. For most things, the Amazon stuff is fine. Radius gauges definitely don’t need to be from StewMac, that’s for sure. But if you can afford their stuff, you know it’s going to be high quality.

I literally bought the same kit last week... and its perfect for me just to work on my guitars at home. Stewmac is much more the professional luthier's choice. Im fine with my kit for 30 bucks, its just right.

I have had really good results with the Baroque crowning file, but a buddy of mine said his gouged up his frets quite a bit. He may have just got a dud. Solid tool for me though. Just needs a good micromesh polish when you're done crowing

Yes, you could use a key chain to hold them together. Thanks for doing this. I'm thinking about getting the kit. I see that Stewart mac already has the fret wires.

I really don't see the point in a fret levelling beam. Just buy a box level / spirit level from your local diy shop and save yourself a bunch of money. They are more or less the same thing as a fret levelling beam except they have spirit levels on them. I got a spirit level a couple of weeks back (400mm) for £6 ($7.66), and it's the perfect size for doing the job on the completely flat and straight bottom edge of it.

I was confused about a stimulus check ... I thought he was tested and yes - he was stimulated! Check. I take it this is like the money Nixon, in Futurama, gave out and Fry drank 100 coffees? If someone made a set of reasonably priced bass and guitar nut files I would buy them in an instant. I used a series of inappropriate tools from my toolbox and for sure this improved 1st fret intonation. Would just like a decent set rather than using ceramic tile saw, junior hacksaw blades, a mini file, some emery cloth wrapped around a cocktail stick etc etc.

stew mac is way over priced they know they are basiclthe only tool ccomp for guitar builders and techs.

Very true and very sad. Someone else needs to step up and offer a middle solution. It seems all we have to choose from are very cheap and very overpriced.

@@murleyryan pretty sure he did that because he doesn't know either. Also explains the lack of response. Tbh most of the stuff in this kit isnt great I basically only use the Allan keys from it.
