Love the comparisons, Vivian! Here’s a way to compare olive oils: refrigerate them! True EVOO should coagulate when it cools (it becomes kind of gelatinous). That doesn’t damage the oil - just take it out of the fridge at let it come to room temp again. When it reaches room temperature, it should re-liquify. Cheaper oils often are mixed with dirt cheap (and inflammatory) seed oils (rape seed or canola). The cheaper oils have a lower percentage of unsaturated fats, which stay liquid when cooled. So - oil that stays liquid when refrigerated is not true extra virgin olive oil (at least, it’s not pure).

When I had radiation burns on my mastectomy site (was in a study of a lotion to stop burns ) that literally left my skin looking like bloody raw hamburger, to the point the rad tech refused one day to do my treatment, the Aquaphor my rad doc recommended kept the healing skin moist so the skin healed amazingly, considering the extensive burns. Bounty is the "quicker picker upper." Over 90% of olive oils on the market are not olive oil, but canola or rapeseed. Best to stick with the more expensive brands that are cold pressed, and in dark glass or metal containers. And never cook with olive oil. It doesn't have the high heat point for cooking. Use Avocado oil instead.

Yes, you can do the "slugging" with Vaseline. If you have dry skin, you can even use it as a moisturizer, but I wouldn't recommend it if you have acne prone skin or rosacea with pustules. Aquaphor is a different emulsion but has a petrolatum base like Vaseline - all the ingredients are very inexpensive, but you are paying for the emulsion and brand. One thing they both have in common is that the ingredients are VERY shelf stable and can be created cleanly in a lab, so very little reaction even from sensitive skin. Makes a terrific occlusive barrier for wounds, dry skin, abrasions, etc. Excellent for healing tattoos. Think of it as the adult version of diaper creme. Using it cosmetically (on the face) can be tricky for those who produce a lot of oil naturally, and can even cause problems for those with oil producing areas or acne unless it is used sparingly and washed off in the morning. Former skin therapist who used to shock her clients when I suggested they could use Vaseline or Aquaphor. :D Oh, and non-coated aspirin as a facial exfoliant. :D

Hey, Vivian! Can't try the Dr. Teal's Epson salt. I'm highly allergic to Eucalyptus... even the dry stuff in Hobby Lobby! However, you know what mosquitos are like in Texas, especially those marsh mosquitos along the Gulf Coast. For that reason, I've been using Dr. Teal's lavender shampoo, lavender conditioner, lavender shower gel, and lavender body lotion. Why? You ask! Lavender is a natural insect and mosquito repellent. And...it actually works! Even yellow jackets don't like it! The products are thick and rich and the shampoo and conditioner is great for your hair! Especially long hair and getting tangles out after washing. Plus, I use lavender Gain laundry soap and lavender Downey softner! Another hint...you can rub a lavender dryer sheet on your arms and legs neck, wherever and it acts as a repellent. It all works. You should try it if you ever get a chance!! 👍👍😎🇨🇱

Aquaphor, I work for a Dermatologist and we have all of our patients use Aquaphor as part of their post surgical care. We never recommend Neosporin, Bacitracin, Triple Antibiotic Ointment, or Polysporin for wound care, because people tend to have reactions and think they have an infection. Also Aquaphor is not Vaseline, the only thing they have in common is that they are both ointments! There is also a spray form of Aquaphor which is great to apply to hart to reach areas. I like it best for my legs in the summer.

It stops hurting immediately and begins to heal right away. Reapply for a day or two if needed. Trust me, you’ll thank me for this tip if you ever use it.

My surgeon/friend had me put Auquafor on a wound under my eye. It made a huge difference in healing, my scar is barely noticeable. I'm sold. Vaseline is good and cheap but it's only ingredient is petrolatum or petroleum. Auquafor has 41% petroleum with other emollients to help healing of wounds and keep skin moisturized while healing. it's good stuff but if a person has sensitivity to the other ingredients in Auquafor, or on an extremely tight budget, vaseline in a good alternative.

I have bought the sesame seed oil in the tin, in the brand you are trying the extra virgin olive oil. The dark green in the oil is why you taste so much more flavor. I also purchase single source (one orchard) olive oil from Greece, Sicily, and Italy. I do purchase Amazon peanut oil for my deep fryer which when they are offering sales a good deal. I buy several types of olive oil, light for using in my spray bottle instead of cooking spray in a can. That can be an amazon or the like as it's much cheaper and you really do not want to taste it. I spray cake pans and when I want to skillet cook but not want to taste the olive oil the lighter color, cheaper oil is fine. The expense stuff I use for raw dressing salads and platters. And of course for dipping.

When I was going through radiation treatment for breast cancer, we were told to use Aquafor. The ladies I met that were already using it said to put something between it and your clothes or it would ruin them. Hey Vivian I love your videos. I love Epsom Salts and just started using the scented ones since the pandemic. Since you also like bathing with it think about the salts when you're in the tub, I love how the Dr. Teals dissolves in the hot water and my butt isn't scratched up instead of soothed. As for the aquafor I want to try it but I love my Equate Brand Vaseline (petroleum jelly) it is more absorbent than the Vaseline brand. My daughter has Psoriasis and those spots come on her skin when she won't moisturize, this stuff leaves her skin glowing. It feels like the stuff they give when you're in the hospital for an extended visit and caring for your skin, lol. Anyway love your videos looking forward to the next one. Lol

Aquaphor is commonly used for cancer patients with burns from radiation. It’s also good for mild acne and cuts. It is more than Vaseline due to the medicated ointment in Aquaphor. Sometimes if my crotch is irritated from tights it also helps. It does a lot but as long as the ingredients are the same then go cheap.

I have used the swifter dusters and the knock offs from Amazon, dollar general and food lion. They basically all work the same. If your house is super dusty they are going to fill up before your done. The handles are usually pretty universal and fit most others as long as they have 2 pocket slides. They are great for quick touch up, reaching high places with out step stool or ladder but to me as an every time duster you just gotta break out the cloth with wet solution where glass cleaner, furniture polish or general cleaner (whatever applies) at some point. They are amazing when you haven’t done like weekly cleaning and in laws or someone want to stop by, run it over surfaces and it looks much cleaner, dust free!

Aquaphor is great for people with very dry skin or people with eczema I know because one of my kids has really bad eczema so when he had flareups I would use the prescribed medicate cream or ointment on the affected areas and use the aquaphor all over to help him create like a barrier to keep moisture in the skin and works great, it takes a little time to be absorbed but it doesn’t leave you feeling greasy, doesn’t stain the clothes so using it on areas where there might be some chafing from rubbing together should work great, use it everyday after his showers and it has helped and doesn’t get flareups much anymore. Vaseline doesn’t give the same effect aquaphor is much, much better.

One thing to watch for with the lower priced olive oil is that it's not all OLIVE oil. A lot of the cheaper brands cut it with safflower or canola oil.

The key to the best Olive oil is that it is single origin meaning it is not a blend of oils from different countries. If you look on the back of the bottle or can it will tell you the potential place the olives were harvested from and the oil was made. On the bottle or can if you see that they have combined Olive oils from 2 different countries for example like Spain and Greece it's not the best quality of Olive oil. The best thing to look for is that it comes from one country only. Also, with respect to color very good quality Olive oil, as you probably had on your trip to Greece has more of a green tint to it. I was taught this by my grandfather in Greece who was in the Olive oil business. He had olive tree orchards and extruded the oil from the olives, which was then sold to distributors.

Here´s an idea for breakfast that people should try and that´s incredible. It comes from Spain in several variants. 1. Toast bread (bakery one and not the sandwich one). 2. Pour Virgin Olive Oil on it. 3. Add slices of tomatoes and salted them a bit. Or: Do the same steps as before but add a slice of York ham. Or: Do the same thing as before but instead of slices of tomatoes pureé them and then spread it on the toasted bread. And either add the ham or not.

Vivian!! Olive oil, cold press, first press is for eating the way you did here, on salads, or in marinades. The cheap stuff is for cooking with; frying oil, etc..

I don't really think you can compare Vaseline to Aquaphor or Cerave Healing ointment. Vaseline is pure petroleum jelly, while the other 2 are not. I like Vaseline, I also like Aquaphor, both are great for chafing, chapping, etc. The difference between them is that Aquaphor and Cerave have humectant ingredients which helps draw moisture into the skin. Aquaphor has lanolin though so if you're allergic don't use it. Cerave doesn't have lanolin but the reason I prefer it is it has ceramides and hyaluronic acid. My dermatologist recommended Cerave to me for healing after a surgery but also said it will help my very dry chapped hands and lips in winter and because I chaf under the girls. I thought he was insane when I saw the price but I tried it. I've been using it almost 4 years now. I have 1 year left before it expires, it should last my family of 3 until then. So 1 big blue tub of Cerave has lasted 3 people 4 yrs so far. And it gets used every single night on my hands and lips and my mothers. I use it on my lips sometimes during the day too. I haven't had chapped lips a single time, not even a hint. I also haven't had just dry rough lips nor dry chapped hands. I use it under the girls too. I haven't had the first chaffing issue during summer since. As for the surgery it was suggested for it was hernia surgery. I was having trouble healing where the drainage tubes were. I had already used a Rx Ointment my Dr gave me. But it didn't help. After just 3 or 4 days of using Cerave the spots started to heal, within about 2 weeks they were completely healed. I now use it on everything, cuts scrapes, burns...you name it.

@@izzyjones7108 Yes it is. I recently started trying other products too. The oil free light face moisturizer is one of the first ones I've ever found that doesn't make my face breakout or feel more oily (the other is Simple Kind To Skin products their gel moisturizers are the best). I like that they have products for specifically for every skin type and issue. But they do need more for oily skin types. I do like the oil control face wash. I've been debating recently about trying the dark circle and puffiness under eye repair cream. I still rank my Simple products #1 for facial products, bur Cerave is a very close second.

Useful information about the aquaphor having lanolin in it. I think I had tried some lotion with a lanolin before and had an allergic reaction to it, itching and burning. I may avoid buying the aquaphor, may buy the CeraVe instead. Thanks!

Danged if you do and Danged if you don't ...Vaseline is a petroleum product and Aquaphor Healing Ointment ingredients is mineral oil, which is extracted from petroleum. ceresin, a mineral wax that comes from shale rocks or coal. lanolin alcohol, which comes from animal skin. panthenol, which comes from vitamin B5.
