Pausing at the beginning , dear Susan, because you brought back an old memory that's funny NOW ;) ... a friend's family had sold the house and moved somewhere else. When she was visiting me, we went out and she said - Jean, can we drive by my old house? Oh, surely! Now, it was the last house - on a dead-end street. That ended in thick forest - you couldn't even walk through it . We pull up and - I don't even have the car fully stopped! - she jumps out and starts to yell YOU CUT DOWN MY TREE! YOU BASTARDS! I was trying to turn around, get her back in the car - it was, as they say today, 'a hot mess!' ;)~~~

From my observations as a 68+ year old woman...with time and experience our perspective on life and our past history DOES change! Susan, I was in tears when you spoke of returning to your childhood house and the hesitation you felt, fearing that those negative emotions would return. So happy it turned out to be a good "walk down memory lane." Kath🌻

Oh hell yes people can change! Since my mid to late teens, every 5 to 6 years I change profoundly. It would come about in such subtle ways until one day the realization that I am different is very clear. And each transformation is deeper and richer than the last. You would never know I was the person I am. Even I am amazed and I know this will continue for all of my life. Namaste.

Your expression of how much Motown music impacted you is exactly the way I felt about Motown myself. My sister and I used to wash the dishes every night and the radio made it a much easier task. To this day, I listen to those artists and enjoy the richness of their voices and am filled with happiness. Some people do change but I think it requires a great deal of effort on their part. Peace.

Can so relate! I lived with my Grandparents then my mother bought a darling old Tudor home in a wonderful neighborhood in Kansas City. Loved that house but my mother’s alcoholism and being an only child with no father it was a terrifying time. The house was foreclosed on my junior year in college (1971) but I swore I’d buy it back. I did in 2003. I just sold it in 2013 but the joy I had making it a happy home for that terrified little girl that lives inside me was irreplaceable.

This really was a Beautiful video! I sat here 😢 crying thinking of my childhood..which was a great childhood...just that your older 🏡 home you lived in when you were growing up looked identical to my front porch that I lived in I bought in 2008. Things have changed and got a Divorce and had to sell it. Mine was built in 1921 and brick like that and had Beautiful woodwork and remodeled. Alot of fun times in that home too! Just missing my Mom & Dad so very much now!

This was beautiful-I’m smiling from ear to ear- walking my cat in my back yard while watching here in Massachusetts- yes people do change - we all have a journey and when we look back we are the people we are today because of how we were influenced in our past - we can look at the negatives but whose past doesn’t have those but we can look at all our successes no matter how small and those add up to our greatness today! Your happiness is infectious! I spent the day in the park listening to concerts and stories reflecting on how I’ve become all the positive things I am today!

Hi Susan! When I was watching your video I noticed 21 dislikes. Who could possibly dislike you! I love your videos they are so close to home for me. I am a few years younger than you but share many experiences like you had and many memories too. I too, love searching for treasures in second hand and regular stores because many items bring me back to the old days. I'm an only child and everyone is gone now. But I have my 2 daughters and my new grandson and they are the light of my life! Since I first came upon your videos last year, they have instilled a great feeling of warmth, wisdom, humor, fashion and make up tips for the older woman that have helped me so much. I love your decorating and the warmth and comfort it portrays. I too believe that a person's home is a reflection of themselves. After an awful divorce of a marriage of 20 years plus 7 years of dating happened to me 3 years ago I have never even thought of being with another person so I don't get hurt again. Even though I am lonely sometimes, you have given inspiration to find the finer things in life that really matter to me! Thank you so much, Susan!

What a beautiful home you Grandfather built. I grew up in a Craftsman style home in Detroit and looking at the pictures of your childhood home reminded me a lot of the one I grew up in. I absolutely love a Craftsman home, they are my favorite architectural style. I wish you could have purchased the one your Grandpa built. I can SO see you there. I moved to Texas from Michigan, in 2015, following my daughter and her family. I miss Michigan so much. Almost every day I think of moving back.....but my family is here now and also, I DON'T miss the Michigan winters. LOL Also, I love those figurines you showed. My sister gave me one of them, two sisters, so I would always remember her. She was dying of cancer at the time, and every time I look at that little figurine, a tear comes to my eye. Same thing when you show them on your videos. She lived up by Reed City, and the only time I've seen those particular figurines is the one she gave me and the ones you show. They must come from that part of Michigan?

I love Beth Brown's comment below - it is exactly what I was thinking. Of course, we absolutely change -- I would certainly hope so!!!! Through the years we have had loves, losses, successes, failure, friends, people we thought were friends, love of family, family squabbles, birth of children and raising them, then having to let them go so they can grow and move on, our insecurities, our strengths, our faith, our questioning, oh my .... it just goes on and on.... isn't life amazing!!!! I have a friend who sends me daily quotes and this was today's --- "don't wait for the perfect moment, take the moment and make it perfect." Thank you Susan, and all who share the wonderful positivity that we all need each and every day, the friendly reminders that we do matter, and that we are ALL special. Lots of love from Idaho!!!!!

Susan, when my mother passed I bought her house because it is located on my grandfather's farm. I am so happy that I did! There are so many memories. I do believe that we change as we age. I'm proof if it. Love your videos!

Really enjoyed this video and it was fun seeing your childhood home even if we only got to see the porch ! I absolutely think people can change. If they want to change or circumstances in their life change or they experience personal growth. People can change in all different ways for all different reasons. I don’t think I’m the same person I was five or 10 years ago I’d like to think I’m growing and evolving and becoming a better person. My goal is to always be better than I was before. Kinder more generous, more open minded and always trying to be more creative, more loving. So yes , I absolutely believe people can change.😁❤️

I haven't watched in a while but I just want to say that you never disappoint. I would cry if I went into the house I grew up in, Mostly tears of joy. Mostly good memories. I remember doing the dishes after dinner and turning on the radio and sing, singing and singing. It was an am fm radio with dials. It sat on the top shelf of a bookcase in our kitchen. I had cats too! Sitting up in my dinky room with girlfriends talking about boys! We were so young! What memories you have brought back to me this afternoon! I love all the tips on makeup and skin care, thank you! Have a great week!

Hello Susan! You’re such an inspiration to me. I can’t wait on Saturday’s to see what you and Desi have been doing each week. I do believe people change sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse. I’ve changed in so many ways over the last two years. I’ve started taking better care of myself. I joined WW and I’ve lost 60 lbs and have some more to go - it’s slow now that I’m older but as happy as I am with the weight loss - my skin started looking like a balloon that’s been blown up a while and the air starts seeping out. Wrinkles of my gosh and the turkey neck 🤦♀️. Then I found The Little Poet channel and followed your advice. I’m in love with Rose Hip oil. I believe that along with many of your suggestions have helped my skin so much 🥰. Thank you and I hope you and Desi have a blessed & beautiful week. I look forward to seeing again next Saturday. XOXOXO

Hi Susan, I have been away for awhile. So I went to your channel to get some sunshine from you and Desi. I swear to you, the minute your little boy appears, I can feel my smile from ear to ear. He is just so precious. That face! Very nice video. I watch QVC myself and saw that fan. I wanted to get it bad. But might be moving so couldn't get another thing. You always look so pretty and have such a beautiful smile. Thank you for being there for us. Now, I need to get to the other few videos of yours that I missed! Have a beautiful week with Desi. Hugs
