Amazon & QVC Favorites! Life Over 60

Welcome to my January Favorites from Amazon and QVC~! I had a great time picking up some spring tops for cool nights that are artistic, well made and flow when I walk. I hope you like them. I found a gorgeous Pant and Jacket Set on Amazon I plan on wearing to a wedding in late September ( fingers crossed). I also found a Boho top that I love plus I go over my January GO TO Foundation/blush/powder and illuminating primer I use under and over my makeup! And then....I share an eye cream I love that I can see my under-eye area less puffy and brighter! I am thrilled because it's winter and that doesn't happen for me. I am doing well on my diet...I have 14 more pounds to go...I have lost 6...wow, that was a hard 6!!! Thank you for the wonderful birthday wishes! I had a great day and I even got flowers from a mystery man.
Thank you so much for your prayers for Bill. I am so comforted he is back in Grand Rapids...he survived Covid but not without great trama. They have him in a room with a huge window now....when the weather gets better I can wave to him through the window and we can have lunch together even if we can't really be in the same room.

After listening to you I realize that I have robbed the joy from someone. I loved. I remember vividly the joy my sister had at her first car that wasn't a junker. All her life her car was always some old piece of crap. She was single and very poor. She did the best she could. One day late in life she bought a two year old car that to her was beautiful and like new. She over paid, and it had stuff wrong with it but it was the nicest thing she ever owned. First thing my husband did was point out all the flaws and then I agreed it wasn't that great of a deal as she thought. I saw the joy fall from her face and probably her heart. I felt terrible and it was too late to take it back. She was sick at that time and unknow to her and to all of us that was the time she would not recover and she really didn't get to drive the car. Her son used the car to pay for her funeral. I never ever got over seeing the joy leave her face. Oh if only I would have smiled and got so happy for her. That really was the nicest thing she ever owned. I learned a lesson that day but I learned it too late. You gave a beautiful and needed lesson today Susan. I hope your followers remember it. I'm in tears now remembering that look on her face when no one was impressed with her fantastic new car.

I am in tears reading this Belva....I did the same thing and it's not that we meant to be mean. It was as if we just wanted to protect them. And the one thing that I am reminded of is your sister knew you loved her and she loved you....she knew in her heart you would want her to have the "best"...I still cry at your beautiful written words because people have such fragile hearts....I am reminded of reprimanding my Mother for bad choices for her health only to see her look so sad when I told her I would not buy her ice cream. What I can do with my tears is to go on with my life and always remember, if you see that smile and twinkle in the eye of your loved one or anybody......when you see and feel their joy, let them have it. I'm so sorry, Belva. Yes, it's a good lesson. We've all done it, at first well meaning only to see our loved one's go from joy to crestfallen. There are many times I wish I could relive too. I think this helps: Try to see yourself as your sister... Your sister is suffering because she feels she stole your joy. What would you tell her? If it were my story, I would tell my sister, ' it's ok sweetheart, I'm ok now, Enjoy your life' ❤️

I love your channel. When I was 30 years old and wanted to become a travel agent, everyone said I wouldn't be able to find a job. But I did, and 35 years later I've travelled the world and made a nice living. I'm glad I didn't let anyone rob me of my dream.

Happiest of birthdays to you, Susan. 🎂🎉 I remember my dad, in his later years, decided that he couldn't be without the red socks that I bought him. His favorite, he'd wear them with EVERYTHING! I'd exasperate myself telling him "Dad! Those socks don"t work with what you're wearing"! He jokingly tell me to mind my own business. Then one day, I got it. I told myself, leave him alone! He is so happy wearing those socks, what do you care? It is his business. I would pick up some more red socks for him over time, and when he passed away, I made absolutely sure he was wearing red socks. ❤ Love to little Desi!

For me and my dad, it was a red, white, and blue plaid shirt. He wore it so much and my mom washed it so much that it became so faded. Even though he’s gone years ago, I still have it. This brought a tear to my eye. How sweet!

“If you love it, dare to show it;” what a beautiful sentiment. My favourite for January - my mother collected Swarovski crystal and passed her collection onto me; we recently moved the beautiful curio cabinet my husband brought for me to display my mom’s beloved crystal into our bedroom so they are the last thing I see before I close my eyes at night and the first thing I see in the morning. They bring me so much joy and happiness because they brought my mom so much joy and happiness; my father used to buy her a piece of crystal for her birthday and for Christmas every year plus she’d buy herself the Swarovski crystal limited edition/collectors piece every year as well. She’d buy the piece in January on a payment plan and it was paid for by the end of the year.

Beautiful Carol! You are the type of person who honours her mother. I do that too. I’ve got a few pieces of Mom’s lovely patterned silverware. (Most was taken by my former sister in law. Bitter, yes) Anyway, I’m going to have a Shadow Box made to display it. That’s a very nice idea about having close when you go to bed. I think that’s what I’m going to do too! ❤️ Soothes our souls, because grief is hard.

I also used to collect crystal figurines, including some neat Swarovski pieces as well as some limited edition Arribas Bros. pieces from Disney World and also some I got from QVC when they were still doing their "Crystal Fantasy" shows usually with David Venable hosting. He'd often say "if you can't decide, or you can only afford to get one, buy the piece that really speaks to you". Word got out I collected them and so I'd often receive crystal for special occasions just like your Mom did. I have had them all stored away since I moved after my divorce a couple of years ago. Your post just reminded me of them. I need to bring them out of retirement and enjoy them again!

How about two favorites for January? In the beginning of the month, I took my friend Phyllis to a sandwich shop I love, that she had never been to. She ordered a cheesesteak ... and then, she was confused. "Jean, where's my food?!" She had amazingly never been in a place where they cooked it FRESH! - only in places where they pulled it out of a cellophane bag and nuked it - can you believe that?!! Her joy is still with me! ... and the 2d was that I was able to passalong something I had no use for, knowing it will help a husband-abandoned mother of 8 children in her time of dire need.

I just got home from taking my sweet little Pom, Roxie, to the vet. She was 16 and had cancer. It’s always so difficult, but I didn’t want her in pain. She was a tiny thing.....always loved being held by anyone who’s arms or lap was available. I recently found your channel. My grandmother loved Lawrence Welk. When my parents went out on Saturday night, my grandma would come over to stay with me and we watched The Lawrence Welk Show. She really loved him. I’m broke down and cried at the end when you mention “ about their joy”...... had company over and this certain person told another family member “that my house was junk”.....never have I been so hurt..... never, because I’m proud of my home and what I have in my home. Cause it’s a reflection of me..... For a long time I was really hurt about it.....although now I’m much better about it..words can hurt....😢

Hi Susan I loved this video and I enjoyed from the start to the end. Desi is such a sweet little dog and you are the same. I love the makeup you shown but the most I loved the story about your son's reaction towards your keyboards and what your mother thought you. Very wise and inspiring quotes. I'll keep in mind that.
