I was born in the 70’s and was there in the 80’s when boom was introduced. When EVERYBODY was running 6”x9”s in school I moved to a small country town with my Honda CRX with the Punch 45 and RF 15” sub and blew everyone’s mind in this this small town NOBODY had subs yet still using radio shack booster/equalizers and 6”x9”s so my small system was the “Talk”. I upgrade selling my punch 45 and 15” to another student so then there were two systems. I got the Punch 150 and RF 18” in the CRX and REALLY blew minds and other guys away. You gotta remember this was the 80’s so it was the start of what we know now as car audio or “Boom” used as term back then. I went thru so many systems switching to Kicker 15” Subs and Hifonics amps Cyclops (100x1) was a beast of a system compared to RF stuff I started with. Then came the “ORION” Red 225 HCCA ( the 50 watt Game Changer) on a pair of Kicker 15” I thought would blow the hatch off the CRX! I now drive a new Civic Turbo and have it loaded with Skar RP 800 amp and Skar (1) DDX 10” Dv2 in factory ported enclosure that is incredible for one small sub! The 80’s were the “Best of Times” and just so cool I was blessed enough to live to see it all unfold!#CarAudio❤️#🔊

@@bondalero0074 Your opinion is highly considered because you know the sound quality and efficiency of those old school subwoofers and I’m fortunate to have experienced the good old days of car audio. So how does the DDX sound on rock/heavy metal, particularly the double bass of the kick drum, does it have good transient response or does it get fatigued. If it’s close to those RFP Hx2’s or the kicker you’ve owned in sound quality then I’m definitely going with the DDX, just wish they made them like they use to and you knew what you were getting right out of the box. Now they have so many brands it’s difficult to choose unless you hear them personally and I do not have that privilege. Thanks again bro for the response.

Each coil measures 2 ohms. You wired the coils in series which doubles the impedance so you were running this sub at 4 ohms. They hit harder at lower impedance.

you guys need to learn how subwoofer loading works, having it fire up like that is absolutely horrible for any kind of performance. You need to fire it backwards next to a corner in order for it to produce any kind of proper bass.

Man you wired it in series to 4ohm, if you wire it in parallel to 1ohm it would hit alot harder. You go positive to positive and negative to negative on the voice coils. And then take a positive and negative and wire to the amp, doesn't matter which one. Not sure if you knew that or not but It'll make that sub hit alot harder on the amp you have it on.

I have the SDR 2 12s wired to 2 ohms and I beat the shit out of them with a 2000 watt Skar amp that should be putting out around 1600 watts RMS. The subs are rated for 600 RMS each and they are still taking every bit of it.

This video was hard to watch.. Why are you doing a subwoofer test video with a tiny cheap looking box? Give that subwoofer some breathing room, and a nice port tuned to 35-40hz and you'll be even more pleased, and then you can truly conclude whether or not it's a good Amazon choice product.

If your amp can handle 1 ohm then I suggest you re wire the sub to that instead of 4 ohm. Will be a lot louder. Or should have gotten a dual 4 ohm sub and wires to 2 ohm if the amp can only handle that low.

If you're looking for a 10, check out Skar's EVL series. The 10" is rated 1000 rms watts for $200. I'm a tuned enclosure they hit hard! Skar Audio lists not only specification of the sub, but recommended box info too. Their amps are legit too.

4ohm is most common and won’t use as much power from your amp. I run 4ohm and it sounds really good.

Actually, I was wrong. A 4ohm setup will use more power and will produce a less loud but higher quality bass sound. On the other hand, a 2ohm setup will use less power and produce a louder but less clean sound. I think I’ll do a video on this. Hope it helps!

The installation material needs to be excluded from the subwoofer box. You will sufficate the Skar, cause it to overheat, and drastically shorten the life of the Skar. And the most important thing....is to get a bigger box. It's obvious your trying to conserve space and I feel you on that, but Skars were made to "Boom"! Like the vidoe, too!

One janky box....to small for a port besides That the tiny port must have chuffed terribly. If skar watched this video they probably was like oh no great our sub in a bird house with a hacked up shit paper tube for a port. I tossed an ix10 I had kicking around in a 1.25cf box with two 2" ports and it chuffed awful as soon as the cone started to move some so that must have sounded like a vacuum cleaner. I was board the other day For fun I dug it out and built an mdf box to exact skar recommendations 1.25cf, 13.5 in2 port area and tuned to 36htz and I performs beautifully (ended up 35.4htz but close enough) I carefully ran it on my cab45 wired to 2ohm and it would still buzz my rear view some in a grand caravan no less. I didn't feel like modeling it in Winisd so i didn't bother deviating from skars box specs because yeah more enclosure volume and port area may increase lows and output in certain frequencies but power handling over excursion would likely come into play. Skar knows what will deliver the best overall performance, it doesn't take much to smoke 2" coil in a 200w sub....so need to pay attention to box design for max reliability. It did ok in a .75cf sealed box also when it was the baby system in my old truck. But that box holy smokes what a fail.... The old sub probably killed itself on purpose just to get out of that mess.

i would have got the DDX series they have a big ass motor and the copper coil is little bigger then a standard 2.5" coils. buy them used but they are worth the money. i got an evl-12 D2, ZVX 8" D2 and a DDX 10 D2 I got the DDX i purchased with coil rub. i heated up the frame under the surround then reset the coil with in 10 mins of opening the shipping box. after i took it in my house i tripped over my cat and broke the moter in 1/2 i was so pissed. i have a drop in cone if anyone needs it

I’m looking at adding a subwoofer and not sure how to pick one since my amp is 2 channel 700 watts RMS per channel , I was wanting to know what power rating in a subwoofer to look for in a dual coil that will handle 700 watts rms and if I parallel it that’s 350 watts rms for each coil? My amp is 2ohm optimized so seeking a 4ohm dual coil subwoofer. Is that what I am needing to seek and do and it will give me the full 700 watts RMS to the subwoofer once is it paralleling it from 4ohm to 2ohm?
