The advantage to having Prime to me is easy returns and streaming (free) movies & TV shows. AMZ needs to be broken up. It seems once it became a movie studio, the fees and Prime membership has increased. And yes, the Chinese sellers are 50% of the sellers. I wonder if they pay FBA fees to warehouse like American do? I know a lot of sellers are going more and more to Ebay.

Someone on TT with a prime account showed an item she wanted to buy was priced higher than the same on her two adult children's regular accounts. Amazon added almost the entire shipping cost onto her price. Suggest checking future purchases to see whether or not this is a systemic issue.

@@appleish5043 Do you realize that not everything ships from Amazon and they are just acting as a portal for you to buy from other people's web stores or brick and mortar stores that they are actually then shipping from. Bezos is already out of that business. He made his billions. Doesn't care. Everyone at amazon is probably "just doing my job" and running the business by profit numbers. Now America is left with an online shopping addiction and are left dealing either getting ripped off or having to go through withdraw via having to shop elsewhere. Even dare I say...making a shopping list and spending the day going to stores.

Research what Walmart has done to the grocery stores in every city, how much they pay their employees and the work environment they have. Walmart's buying power (Costco is like this also) pushes the prices down so low from all major brands that these brands then make the middle-size and small-size buyers (local grocery stores) pay higher prices to make up the difference in lost profits. They essentially drive all other grocery stores out of business. And Walmart used to be affordable, but they are increasing their prices faster than inflation also. Now it's cheaper to shop at Asian, Latino and Aldi/Lidle stores than Walmart. Stop shopping at Walmart for stuff you can get at other stores for less money.

First, consumers pay all cost for everything. 2nd, just watched a vid few weeks ago that claimed Amazon is telling sellers thier price is too high. If you want to tap Amazon's customer base then you must play by their rules. I use prime for zero shipping cost and 2 day shipping. I was getting 3 to 5 packages per week. Now, 2 day shipping is gone for me and returns are like jumping through hoops so I now buy about 1 item a month and have canceled prime. I like checking an item in person locally even if it cost more. I am disappointed much less now and total spending is down.

First thing I did was drop Prime. I was a little addicted to 2 day delivery but honestly order comes 2-4 days regular delivery. Returning items is a hassle for me. No printer and live 15 minutes from drop off. Then I just put stuff in cart, came back next day and removed most things. Then I just quit going to Amazon altogether. Tough love… I got tired of iffy quality anyway. I’ve quit most shopping altogether. I only buy minimal gifts for children in family for birthdays. No Christmas presents. They don’t care..they get so much all year long. I’m back to buying local in order to keep local stores available. Might cost a little more but easy returns, friendly service and I buy what I need without adding a few extra items to cart. Grocery shopping in a small local grocery store saves me a lot. There’s not as many choices but has the basics without enticing me to buy an extra $20 on unneeded items.
@kirkjohnson6638
@kirkjohnson6638 21 күн бұрын
The simple answer is that it costs money to have other people gather the items in your online shopping cart, package them, and deliver them to your door. When you need a lot of stuff, especially heavy stuff, it makes far more sense to go to a local store in your car and do your own shopping because the money you spend on gasoline and the time you spend driving to the store and back are fixed costs. And delivery vans from Amazon, Walmart, Kroger, etc. seem to be be more limited by weight than volume. It's hard for Amazon to justify delivering cases of soda or gallons of milk because the profit on the sale doesn't justify the space and/or weight allocation in the delvery truck, but if someone orders a diamond ring, the profit is huge compared to the delivery cost. Also, even though we are paying for free delivery through our prime memberships, the prices of goods are also artificially high to reflect delivery costs. This is very evident if you compare the total cost of staples like milk. Amazon and your local grocer probably pay very similar amounts per gallon from dairies. If anything, Amazon would be paying less because their order quantities are higher. But Amazon will charge way more than you pay at your grocery store because they have to pack the delivery fee into the price. If they quoted separate shipping, everyone would say "screw that, I'm not waiting around for the deivery AND paying a lot for it when I can just hop in my car and be back in 20 minutes".

It’s like Netflix-only worse. There was a golden age of streaming. There was also a golden age of Amazon when it was more pro consumer than not. Antitrust action is warranted. Capitalism is great when it’s balanced with strong regulation; otherwise it eats the competition, then when it’s the only game in town jacks the prices on both seller and buyer. That’s where we’re at now. Eventually when big enough it buys favorable government regulation by paying for political favor. We’ve seen it all before in other industries… pharmaceuticals, fossil fuels. Once it reaches that point the little guy doesn’t stand a chance.

Don't forget that it's also partly due to consumers having unfair expectations at times. People got too used to the quick returns or using things and than expecting a 100% return. It goes both ways. Amazon getting too big for their britches and consumers expecting no repercussions for their own buying habits. Honestly, I have no issue with prime and I'm very picky about what I buy. I spend a lot of time making sure I'm getting the best deal I can and I order things to ensure I get the fastest shipping and lowest prices. Being a smart shopper is important no matter where you buy. And I've never had an issue with returns. They refund my account and I make sure I take care of the item I'm returning. That's the whole point of businesses - they pass on ALL costs to the customer. Stop saying this stupid comment as if it's new or unknown. The only question by consumers should be: Is the price increase worth the product?

We benchmark Amazon price with those from Aliexpress, Ebay, Temu and other retailers. Many times, Amazon prices are just ridiculous! We skip Amazon for sourcing... Amazon at the end of day will just loose out if their price is not competitive. We, as consumers, have plenty of cheaper places to source exactly the same item. I find that i rarely buy from Amazon now, except the rare and bulky USA made professional hardware tools, such as heavy duty rivet guns, which i know a cheap product will fail quickly and can never do the job required, then i spend big and get the proper tool. Here, Amazon price may be competitive, because local retailers selling these tools at a high price 😂😆👌 But sorry to say, Amazon is slowing fading out from our list of best sources, as it is being replaced by Aliexpress.

@@edward92128 If by 'putting in the work' do you mean paying for Amazon ads.? Amazon ads distort keyword searches so much that they become nearly useless for customer searches. Even if a customer knows a product text word for word the customer will get pages and pages of slighly relevant and completely irrelevant products shown to them (that are heavily advertised) before they find the exact product they are searching for if ever, ten pages in. It would be best if no one advertised on Amazon and let keywords reign supreme. Better for sellers, and especially better for customers. But very bad for Amazon.

Amazon had me take pic’s and, based on that, interpreted that they would refund only 6 jars of value. There was Vegemite everywhere, and all jars were broken. About 12 of them were decapitated, the other half caved in. It was an FBA fulfillment by Amazon order, 3 days late incidentally , and I am certain the seller took the hit. The jars were not packed, but simply thrown into a box with no bubble wrap, no protection at all. If you are a merchant, build your own site and think of other additional channels of sales. They are spending a massive amount of money to compete with Amazon, and they now have better and faster shipping to my home (which is in a rural area). Recently Amazon has implemented a chatbot that won't let you get to a human unless you type in something like "I am going to request a charge back from my credit card company". The Amazon AI then immediatlely connects you to a human. Walmart, on the other hand, has good old fashioned phone customer service. They refund quickly for problems, and they are generally better on getting things to me on time, including same day deliveries. How is Walmart impacting Amazon, and how does this affect the "monopoly" claim?
