Temu is having goods subsidized by PRC to implode U.S. businesses. The goal is to shutdown global competition and leave only China left, then the low price ride is over and China will have the ability to cripple other nations. (Taken right from Walmart's playbook!) This takes a lot of money, so they also steal from their independent sellers to help recoup that spending.

We can only get certain things in the US that have at least parts made from "import". This came from allowing our business in the US to outsourcing cheaper items than making them in the US.. we will have to pay more if we only buy "made in america products". However, if we get in a war. At least we will have the producers to make it in the US vs. Importing from say a country we are no longer to import from.. We allowed our government to shaft us in the US to let big corporations to save more and get more profits..

@editfazekas3854
@editfazekas3854 9 күн бұрын
The 'Free Shipping' all these apps offer is not free. China is a 'developing nation' according to the UN. That gives them access to subsidized shipping through the UN's 'Universal Postal Union' (UPU). That subsidy comes from postage costs paid by all other mail users. The UPU consists of 192 member countries. So, if you send letters/parcels within one of those countries, part of the cost goes towards 'free' shipping of cheap knock-off Chinese crap - it also means your own manufacturers can't compete with the fakers in China.

They went up as a result of the prices of the products going up AND the cost to sell on Amazon going up ... plus if the product is a popular product for scams, you can add an extra increase to compensate for that too. Lots of small sellers don't rake in much of a margin after you deduce all costs, expenses and taxes

they should of lowered their prices when they had competition, with no competition they will have no reason to lower to compete, and possibly even come to agreements to price fix across selling platforms so no one will have the cheaper option anymore.. after all lack of competition means no reason o innovate or be differnt, why monopolies get broken up when the courts get off their lazy bribed bums. cause no competition in a area means consumers get gouged and no other options when corners get cut and quaility lowers..

It makes sense to impose tariffs and remove loopholes to protect your own manufacturing industry. However, US has de-industrialized its manufacturing industry since 1980’. If you are not producing the goods, why put tariffs on imports? The answer are simple, US Government is so bloody in debts, it needs more tax dollars from its own citizens. Secondly, US political parties are controlled by military and wealthy corporations. Rules are imposed on imports so the corporations can make more money. When the corporations make more money, politicians will get more sponsorship and bribes. Do you guys understand now?

There's limited benefit in using tariffs to protect manufacturing of goods where your local goods are not competitive. Because functionally, that's just enforcing theft from your own citizens. Plus, your manufacturing sector might end up not internationally competitive (assuming free market trade) China is coming in with cheaper products so it doesn't run into the problem of its local products not being competitive internationally... Which would not be as true for the US. The US... Needs to focus on products and industries that make more money, because of the higher cost of labor. Unfortunately, China is also angling for those more expensive markets... Which makes things complicated.

There's a LOT of regulatory groundwork to make that happen that politicians just don't care about. We've allowed our companies to outsource everything and claim "Made in America". We've made college education unaffordable which would allow us to build and design new manufacturing and tech. We've slowly gutted unions which would train people how to do stuff and get paid a decent wage for doing so. We'd need to increase focus on high school trade schools for things like electronics, fab, and manufacturing...instead of just the regular HVAC, car mechanic, etc. Companies aren't going to stop outsourcing for the good of the US. They would need to be forced to do so...and no group of politicians is committed enough to do it. One side has no answer and the other side's answer is to crank out more plumbers and electricians (important jobs, but not jobs that are going to reverse the loss of US jobs overseas).

Might explain why products on Temu have gotten worse (they used to add shirts with good designs on them; now they are just adding black shirts with an ironed-on flower or whatever on the front). Also, I have noticed that they are now charging for shipping (bought something for my sister earlier this month, as her birthday is coming up, and I had to pay over $2 for one order and another $3 for another order to have them shipped. Both orders just had shirts and leggings in them). As for Shein, I've noticed they aren't adding as much stuff as they used to on the site (I shop plus sized clothes, btw). I will not give my Social Security Number to anyone in order to buy anything from them. I'll stop buying before that ever happens.

So you'll pay for shipping now and still be cheaper than Walmart or Amazon for some items. Many items will go away. That's how a global economy works. It finds balance so the big can keep profits and the foreigners who supply to them keep supplying while some get it for cheaper but not much less. The bulk of temu items isn't the quality or the product on amazon or Walmart. And all products at Walmart aren't even middle tier but the lowest quality anyway. This only hurts the poor and the low income people in the end. Keeping poor poor and the rich rich. Nothing changes.

In the meantime, though I’m going to try to get as much as I can from Temu in terms of bigger ticket items like sheds and equipment and things like that because so far what I’ve received has been very high-quality and it’s literally half the price of what we have to pay in retail stores here in the United States. @zephsmith3499
@zephsmith3499 2 ай бұрын
Pretty much every place does that, it's not unique to Walmart. Do you imagine that Target is easier for supplier to deal with, because Walmart is the only one that pushes for the lowest price then can get? If a given supplier can't make something for a low enough price, the store will look for someone else who can; if nobody else can either, then the store will offer a higher price, or discontinue the product (depending on how much the think consumers will be willing to buy it for; they don't want to store unsold products on the shelf because the price is too high; if enough consumers will pay more for it, the store is happy to oblige). This can be hard on a small supplier trying to break into the big times, with their first huge order which is make or break for them. But check the brands at Walmart - there's not much that comes from mom and pop businesses who can be squeezed by Target or Walmart, the large bulk comes from big brands. A brand like Igloo or Coleman or Rubbermaid can push back, because Walmart/Target.etc needs them as much as they need Walmart/Target/etc. They can equally say "if you won't pay us more than $9 for it, you won't be selling our product in your store and people will buy it elsewhere". We don't see many of their suppliers going out of business because they can't make enough profit.

And will the economy keep turning or will demand plummet with these price increases causing more layoffs as Corporations try to hold on to their stocks valuations. Look at what happen to China recently as their consumer demand plummeted businesses close in droves.
